I find it a real shame that some people have used Woodie’s death in such a nasty way.
First off was Joker using the name Woodie to come into the room after his death was announced, and then thin asking if Woodie was going to the Manchester meet and if he had booked a room was it now available.
This is not black humour and both examples offended a lot of people. There is a time and a place to be respectful and to let people mourn the passing of someone who was very respected by a lot of people in the chat room. Trying to make cheap of that respect only says so much about the people who do so and no matter how much you back track on what was said does not make it right.
And later for a certain person to come in with a name change taunting a chatguides terminally ill sister – well that is really beyond the thin end of the wedge
We have been in the UK for most of the last month and have had the good fortune to meet a few people from this room. We had hoped to meet Woodie as he lived in the region of the UK where we used to live before moving to France – sadly it did not happen due to circumstances and we are sad that it was not possible
God (whoever your god is) bless you Woodie

Speaks volumes about them.
Totally uncalled for.31 January, 2014 at 6:06 am #521564Over the years I have unfortunately met some of the nastiest most unfeeling do anything for a cheap laugh people on this so called ‘social’ networking medium.
On the plus side, I have met far more nice genuine ‘real’ people and have forged many freindships, some that have stood the test of time and are now firm long life freindships. People I probably would never have met but for this medium of communication.
This post J does not surprise me in the least, nor am I shocked, in spite of the depths yet again a minority, and it is a minority, will stoop to in the name of ‘humour’
I do stop and wonder though, what made these individuals this way, are their lives so mundane and lonely, the only way they can get any attention in this life is to become ‘keyboard warriors’ Unfortunately this is a fact of life, we are all individuals and make a choice about how we behave, past life experience good or bad shapes and moulds us, many of us rise above it and still manage to remain decent human beings, for those that don’t surely they are to be pitied.
There is a line to be drawn when it comes to common decency but wherever you go in this life some people will never know where that line is.

thin isn’t content unless he’s upsetting the applecart. Take him with a pinch of salt fgs…his joke is an old one – I remember that type of response to someone’s death floating around when I was a kid (twas in Bolton – “I heard about your boy Jim’s death..I just want to say I’m really sorry…I was his best mate..can I have his bike, it was a good un”)
Joker’s humour is – well, Joker’s humour. Not really funny, but then the original Batman’s Joker wasn’t meant to be funny (in the normal sense).
Woody is held in great respect..people can get offended, but the respect remains the same..that’s what counts in the end
