yes, he managed to pass a ball and make one chance against a pub team
worth 6 million at least
Perhaps because he came on in the last few minutes, maybe? I’m sure that many other players could have scored hattricks, had 11 shots at goal, 14 assists in the last few minutes of the game….Duh!
At the end of the day, he has a strikers instinct infront of goal and he will be heading to the premiership within the near future(and I am not referring to that because of his little tap in for England). He is a great striker with high prospects of becoming even better.
30 March, 2007 at 12:27 am #235268to be fair, you can’t really judge a player from the championship.. its silly.. just in the same way you can’t compare players from the scotish league, the prem is a whole different ball game.. you get half the time to think, you got to rely more on instict, i am sure he will get his chance though, upto him to prove doubters wrong

Rrrrrrespect………… a blink of light in a somewhat cloudy game though….. lets not do the media thing and build him up to something he is not.
This team we have now were all little Owens, little whatevers. I heard it mentioned on tv tonight : Henry was questioned: “Where does Englands hopes rest on qualifying rest ……: the answer was expectancy, but the next question was “what will hold England back from qualifying….. his answer was the same: “the expecancy!”
same old innit

Going by your last post…I don’t think you have seen much of him really, have you?
At the end of the day, the kid has the capabilities infront of goal, and his movement off the ball gives him the prospect of becoming a good striker in the premier league.
A little side note for you, Matty…People were extremely surprised that Spurs brought Carrick from the championship, and he wasnt hyped up, he didn’t always play, and look what he has done and acheived? There is so much hidden talent in the lower divisions, but no one will sign them because it’s all about, “who can spend the most money” nowadays!
31 March, 2007 at 4:45 pm #235271carrick had played in the prem the season before with west ham
i’m just saying its a higher level, not saying i’ve seen him play, i just would’nt compare 20 goals in the championship to scoring 20 in the prem.. but thats a bit obvious, did’nt think i needed to explain that
31 March, 2007 at 7:27 pm #235272Quite a lot of strikers who scored a lot in the Championship in the past few years didnt seem to have any problems finding the net in the Premiership when their teams were promoted. Johnson and Doyle spring to mind.
Also a lot of players who “only did well in Scotland” seemed to do just fine in England or elsewhere. Di Canio, Van Hoojdonk, Larsson and Viduka spring to mind.
To be honest I think the Premiership’s a bit overrated. I dont think it’s as much a step up as some people think.31 March, 2007 at 9:25 pm #235273i thought larsson struggled if i’m honest.. i think 1 prem goal in 6 proved that, maybe thats his age… but i can name players who hav’nt stepped up.. like andy booth, marcus stewart…
prem is the best league in europe at the moment, you just have to look at the european cup for that, with 3 of our teams still in it, should have been 4..
1 April, 2007 at 7:04 pm #235274I wasnt talking about what he did at Man U. 6 games wasnt really enough for him to find any kind of form.
2 April, 2007 at 11:08 am #235275Who gives a flying pigs d*ck about Larsson ffs?
