I’m not racist, I just hate the Belgians.
ahem
joking aside…… I don’t think the children should have been taken away from the foster family, if they were being cared for and looked after well, just because of the foster parent’s political stance.
AND the reason I say this is that there are good kind people in all walks of life who would never let their political views affect their ability to care for children or the vulnerable. That would therefore include people who work in nursing homes, care homes for the elderly and hospitals. Or, are we going to insist on knowing the political opinions of every nurse and doctor in our hospitals before allowing them to look after anyone?
Just saying like
oh and I apologise if someone has already said this but I did try and read it all but my eyes went funny :D
29 November, 2012 at 2:52 am #516082Well b*gger me with a bog brush.
A few days away from the Boards and ol Tel has declared war on everybody.
Gotta say, if you were attempting to win the “Best Troll of 2012” award, you are going good guns Tel.
It’s not the views – it’s your complete intolerance of everybody else, and your unfailing ability to sink to personal insult so very quickly.
By completely failing to have any concept of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, you have succeeded in making people respond to you in a way which confirms your own view of them. You certainly can’t criticise others for not answering your questions, because you ignore questions asked of you, even when asked very politely by people who have no axe to grind against you, like me.
I have nothing particularly unpleasant to say to you, only to observe that the car crash I have just witnessed was largely caused by your hair trigger insult impulse.
I don’t think for one second that you are as uncaring about other people’s situation, feelings and views as you appear. You certainly have some interesting views, which are more than worth debating on the Boards.
That said I’ve got to respect you big time – top trolling. Anyone who can roundly insult so many apparently decent people on what is a relatively friendly site has a skill set most people could only dream of.
29 November, 2012 at 3:08 am #516083Btw, I think the Rotherham social work decision was an enormous own goal, which has caused political mayhem and hasn’t necessarily helped the children.
There is certainly a rock and hard place issue, with the welfare of the children becoming a terrible political football. We simply do not have enough facts to make our own judgement, and I can see both sides of the debate here. The foster parents could have the most marvellous skills but the wrong attitude to take care of immigrant children. On the other hand this could be a hugely badly judged knee jerk react by social workers. It has certainly handed UKIP a huge boost in the forthcoming election.
Sadly kids being shunted around different carers is only too common, sometimes despite the best efforts of social services and sometimes because of their failures.
I don’t however think that people should be removed from their jobs, even if the findings are that moving the children was inappropriate. People have to learn and if they get it wrong despite their best intentions, while they were trying to follow their own policies, that is not a resigning matter.
Just wondering if Terry loses his entire livelihood if he messes up a photographic job or has a bad attitude to his clients? All this public bad (scroungers/bringing the country down) against private good (hard done to/making Britain a better place) is getting a bit old. We need public and private and need to respect both. That is common sense not a looney leftie view.
God help any kid in care – it is rarely the best start to a life and all the evidence is that, on average, they carry on being disadvantaged throughout their life. Hopefully they will forget this circus and go on to lead fulfilling lives.
29 November, 2012 at 8:38 am #516084the kids have become a political football.
UKIP have done very well out of them. It would surprise me if UKIP didn’t attact a sympathy vote today at the by-election, especially given the decency of the foster-parents’s response.
Totally agreed with momes re kids in care.
