Ronnie Biggs, the Great Train Robber, has been granted “compassionate release” from his prison sentence, according to Jack Straw, the Justice Secretary.
The decision means Biggs can celebrate his birthday on Saturday a free man. It will be 46 years to the day since the robbery.

Although the decision was made today, Biggs will remain on bed watch overnight.

The three Prison Service staff watching him will be withdrawn tomorrow, once the licence for his release is finalised.

Watch the rat pack move in.
Wouldnt be surprised if Mr Clifford isnt around

I’ve no time for the likes of Biggs but they might as well nominally release him because his real jailer now is the illness from which he’s likely to die very soon and he’s not exactly going to go anywhere except feet first in a wooden box anyway.

Cant be bothered reading the 5 pages, but this Man robbed a Train for money god knows how many years ago.
Vicious murderers are usually out in 10 years on parole these days.

Ah, but the train driver died as a result of the attack on him in the robbery, but it was just over the time limit for his death to be treated as murder. Biggs wasn’t the attacker, but he was part of the organised crime gang.

I’ll google it Bass, but I do think you’re wrong. I think I remember reading that the Train Driver got hit with an object by a member of the gang who was never actually identified. In fact he didnt die, but had recurring headaches for the rest of his life.
