Biggs did the crime then refused to do the time. He thought he was above the law and disappeared off to Brazil to lead the high life whilst the guard that got clobbered went on to die an early death directly linked to the assault.
Not once did Biggs show remorse, on the contrary he sneered at the law and thumbed his nose at this country.
So now it’s caught up with him and he’s old an sick, that doesn’t entitle him to be free. As for citing other criminals having done worse things then getting released, they DID their time.
We should have a legal system wherebye life means life however.

Yes we should have a system thats life means life, but we don’t. I fail to see how it can even be called life, because it just isn’t!!!

As for saying they DID their time. While on the one hand i’d agree. I’m finding it hard to have the same feeling for people who torture a child, ultimately murder that child but then police can’t prove it, and then she’s going to serve what? 3 years, he got 12 so he’ll serve half and then be able to apply for parole. I really wouldn’t be able to call that DOING! their time.

Regardless of other criminals getting lesser sentences than they should have, Biggs was a gutless coward who refused to take responsibility for his own crime and who laughed at the law for decades from his hideaway in Brazil. If he isn’t laughing now, then too bad. Old age doesn’t excuse wicked behaviour, or we wouldn’t still be hunting down Nazi war criminals.

Hmmm well you can’t argue with Kezef on some of those points but I think we’ve got to put the crimes we are comparing Biggs too in perspective.

Sutcliffe & Co & for that matter the war the criminals committed their crimes in cold blood & intended to harm, tourture & ultimately kill their victims.

Biggs & Co were greedy gits & although there’s no excuse, matey probably got coshed in panic. Think about the crimes of that era & those we hear of on a daily basis now.

Hardly in the same class are they? ……. And NO I am not saying that makes it right either.
