Probably one of the turning points of his life. I could say career but i hate that term…just implies you call what you do a job. Bowie got paid for what he did but i don’t think he would ever have called it a job. He lived what he did and would probably still call him self an absolute beginner if he was alive today.

If I may,I still have very difficult time knowing in the musical industry the real difference of rock and metal classics. Thinking rock, several instruments lively beat, musically understood. First thing that comes to mind with metal is guitars wildly played, and loud which some times as very good, hurts my ears…
Just like now pondering on do I want a iPad or tablet, several choices, sizes, bites, companies, price… do go with the rock, or metal….hee hee…make sense…

15 July, 2017 at 3:22 pm #1061003Hi Linda https://www.justchat.co.uk/boards/topic/rock-and-metal-classics/page/4/ This is agreat article to explain a lot of the aspects of Rock and Metal. The typical rock theme revolves around a thick, heavy electric guitar and drums sound characterized by highly amplified distortion and rapid guitar solos.
The second reference here is about the differences as there are differences perhaps in the sense that metal has darker lyrics and more complex song writing.https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-differences-between-Rock-and-Metal-music-genres-See-description
15 July, 2017 at 3:35 pm #1061005Rock is perhaps the most enduring and respected of all the musical genres . It like many other things has evolved over time and split off into many different forms of rock with their own particular style of singing, themes, speed of guitar playing and subject matter. original rock was more easy going, more poppy and a straight forward beat. One thing that might define the difference though is the use of electric guitars as opposed to just acoustics as the use of guitars in metal music seems to be the more dominating factor.
Purists will probably argue that Rock should only consist of drums guitar and bass rather than a lot of bands that incorporated keyboards into their songs.
Here are some of the various cultures of the Rock and Metal genre…………..
Indie rock, pop rock, soft rock ,gothic rock, punk rock, glam rock, heavy rock, heavy metal, thrash metal, too name but a few. But i would say in my personal opinion that regardless of any thing else, rock is always about the guitar. There’s country rock as well so perhaps more than just about the guitar, every form of rock is a variation on how the guitar is played within that genre.
15 July, 2017 at 3:48 pm #1061007Not sure exactly what you mean about the i pad / tablet comment. I have a tablet with Windows and the thing is awesome for music videos. Although with tablets, my battery only last for 2 hours or less so its worth looking at battery length when thinking of buying one I have a ten inch screen as well as i found the smaller 7 inch tablets great for pocket-ability but irritating to use.
I rarely take laptops, and tablets out my flat so i have never found many problems with connectivity using Broadband. Tablets apparently use mobile phone technology so in my opinion are still a relatively new thing on the market.
You mean rocks like in money? or even jewels? Reminds me of JLo singing……..Don’t be fooled by the rocks that i got….i’m still Jenny from the block. LOL Used to have a little now i have a lot but i’m still Jenny from the block. LOL
