It’s a beautiful song Scep with beautiful lyrics, however Love isn’t exclusive to believers and I don’t think that is what she is trying to say either , however I take your point. 😊
What do you think she was trying to say, Ms M?
By the way, I think I’ve said this before, but I really don’t think Love is exclusive to beleiveers at all.

Without it, none of us could keep going. Without a great deal of it, you’d have collapsed yeas ago.
This is rubbish where you are using your own mindset to project onto others- I don’t love anyone yet still ” keep going “. Simply because you rely on others doesn’t mean we all do.. some are self sufficient without having to “love”
rudeboy, I will be responding to some of your points. There is always some interesting point wrapped inside your insults and I value it.
Now the response quoted interested me a lot.
It’s not about loving any person.
But do you love nothing? Surely you love something – whether it’s your career or the money coming in each week/month, your hobbies or interests, your television or your house, your garden or your beer.
What does keep you going? If you don’t want to say, then do you love something such as the above lists?? There are some who’ve lost all hope.
btw you’re right, I am very needy, I’m glad to say. I see nothing wrong with that.

3 April, 2018 at 11:02 pm #1092317@’Morgan’ Now instead of worrying your head about who is a pseudo-intellectual and who isn’t, why don’t you just attend to the argument?
What is the argument?

Just like to clarify ,as I think Rude got wrong end of stick… I’m not reliant on anyone, quite the reverse … it was a bit ambiguous.

surely Scep that’s ‘like’ not love ???
4 April, 2018 at 9:33 am #1092329Why not, ms M?
It’s not Love in the sense that Joni Mitchell was using it,
It’s self-love, what people in the past when i was a lad called Eros. Eros isn’t just sexual love, it’s love of self in every way. It can get very distorted, of course.
I may love Shakespeare and/or I may love murdering people. In the latter sense, it’s the most degraded form of self-love, akin to self-hatred imho. It’s when people are truly in Hell – again imho.
Love of others is also very complicated but won’t go into that.
God’ love was called agape by people in the past, and there was once a lot of discussion about how agape related to eros.
I’m interested in the question you didn’t answer. What do you think Joni Mitchell was getting at, as you don’t seem to think she was saying what I thought.

Keep up, Sonny Jim.
The next stage of the argument follows shortly.

I don’t bother reading a lot of threads here, and also don’t bother to mention that I find them extremely boring.
