You’re of the “small brain” brigade scep, it’s a statement of fact as every post just keeps repeating the same thing. You don’t even know what gender Morgan is which says it all really.

Are you going to answer the questions posed to you on evolution or just keep repeating childish nonsense about big brains all day?

The second part of my answer to mooosey’s anger a couple of days ago.

You thought I was calling you ignorant, and became really angry about it.

i don’t think of people as ignorant and me as all-wise and all-knowing. I wouldn’t be here so long if that was the case. I’ve seen many people in jc with that attitude, and they don’t last long usually.

But this thread has been characterised by really ignorant behaviour in a different way.

It started with posts attacking Christianity (in the run up to Easter!). The posts were dripping with contempt, and the nastiness and contempt became more and more venomous. I was concerned about its effect. Paigey stood up for herself, but Nemesis seemed very defensive. It turned out that she was just being open and receptive, trying to defuse the nastiness. Even Morgan had to like one of her posts asking for the thread to be conducted in a more civil manner.

There was a point when you contributed to that atmosphere. Fortunately you had the strength of character to apologise later, and I know that you have a tolerant approach to a faith in which you have no belief. I do not regard you as ignorant, and I’m sorry for the anger that resulted, though it was boiling up before.

I think people should be aware of what this period means to Christians. It’s lent, and we’re nearly at Holy Week. It’s a very solemn preparation for the day when Jesus was lifted up for all the world to look at, for all time before and after. For non-Christians this took place nearly 2000 years ago For Christians, this moment is now. I cannot stress strongly enough how sacred it is.

I won’t continue. If you read this, and if you react in a reasoned manner, I’ll answer in a reasoned manner. I know how tough your life is atm, and you have my respect. I was so pleased to be your friend for a short time. If you are still angry etc, so be it. It’s finished and I’ll have to live with it.

I answered it, BigBrain. Read again, and if you don’t understand that’s not my fault.

Well Scep I think you are wrong. For the record I have no problem with reading books, so don’t twist things you are better than that. I love books, I’ve read all my life, probably not the same genre as you, but I’ve always believed you learn at least 1 thing from any book you read, even a trashy novel. I won’t even use a Kindle etc, I love the feel of a new book, the smell of it, daft ? maybe….  I certainly never said you are arrogant because you read books so that whole sententious rant was rather sad. I said I don’t have a designated day I can sit and read books , I also said you name drop the people you’ve read, as if that actually makes your point !! As if the fact you’ve read a book about someone means your point is made for you. It doesn’t make your point, your actual points are often very vague ” I read somewhere that a few people thought this about him , cant remember where” etc etc . I said you come across as Arrogant, and I still believe you do, as do  some others, you are right there. You asked for someone to answer you about Stephen Hawking’s lasting Legacy, I gave you my take on it in a non specific way as I’m not an expert and you still just nit picked holes in it, repeating everything you’d already said many times. In my opinion, you sound as if you have a resentment of Stephen Hawking, you sound petty and picky, whether its because he could afford better treatment than your friend who died from MND I’ve no idea, but that would really be petty wouldn’t it ? Do you think everyone who has lost someone to a deadly disease resents others who are cured ? I certainly hope not.  I don’t think it would matter what anyone wrote to substantiate Hawking’s legacy, you’d still just pick at it and disagree for your own reasons. And for the record Hawking isn’t a miracle lasting so long, there are plenty who outlive initial prognosis . Most MND sufferers live 4-5 years after first diagnosis, it would seem your friend was very unlucky to only last a year and for that I am very sorry.

    Ge

People need to understand. he is rigid in his thinking. He will not budge an inch whatever evidence is presented to him. He is not “well read” at all. He steers the all the debates on these boards  down avenues he is more familiar with where he is better read and and when people refuse to play him at his own game, the insults start.

And because I have just woken up. We can all read a book/books that already agrees with our point of view, confirming that point of view. It is laziness. In the academic world where authors are thrown about like confetti it would be laughed out the building.
