I doubt there will be proof either way as to whether God exists in our lifetime….in fact, even if it was proven that the universe and everything in it was created in an explainable, scientific way, leaving no space for anything supernatural or by design, believers would still choose to ignore the facts rather than except that their faith, time, reading, was all in vain, therefore making their beliefs totally self serving, so I think this ‘discussion’ moot.

It is not possible to discuss, let alone discuss civilly, with someone whilst the sanctimonious and pious are envisioning angels, hearing the clarions, the dervishes are whirring away and the mantra has become droningly monotonous. Ah, you’ve finally taken a break from banging your head against the wall and reciting huge swathes of Timothy and Matthew to yourself. And anyone else that will listen.
Same
self serving
Isn’t that more or less self indulgence? isn’t that a sin?

20 March, 2018 at 2:22 am #1090021I’ve said this before…. at times when we are all stressed, upset, etc etc it must be lovely to feel you have a ‘special’ connection with some higher being who you think of as a friend, I’m almost a bit jealous, however seeing young innocents suffer so badly for no apparent reason makes me seethe.. especially when some pious twit says ” god only takes the good ones to be with him ” which is the stock answer … I want to shout ” ok take the good ones but did they have to suffer so badly ?? ” its a crock.

20 March, 2018 at 2:25 am #1090022Reflecting on the entirety of the responses in this discussion, it is my belief and or opinion if you will, that answers defined, evidence supported will never fully be answered for any of us. Reason being each of us will have the thought or thoughts to challenge the why, when, where so forth. Are these not the scientific approaches of again steps of theory…..? It is an ever turning cycle of questions that we all contemplate..
Is it not true that scientist continue to question other scientist on theories, which again make the cycle be challenged again? Revisited..
Guess this is to make life interesting, challenging, not boring nor ever fully conclusive..
As I do believe we some how did evolve, as to who actually started evolution in my life time the challenge will be there for me..
Do I have a belief in faith of some sort introduced, all of us have been introduced into something. How we learn…continue to grow..what we decide or choose or share are those of our own behaviors..needs, desires….
Think it important to have belief in something. One thing I do note that many who practice one belief or not is it provides peace on how we as individuals live our life, share with others and develop.
20 March, 2018 at 2:26 am #1090023The next boiling mad line is ….. ” god works in mysterious ways !! ”
Well yes … its sooooo mysterious .. its almost like he’s not even there !!! wow .
