Just read the harrowing story about this young lady who in a desparate cry for help posted her final moments on facebook.
It’s reported that she was victim to online bullying aswell. Don’t know how true this, but after she had posted that she had taken some pills a few people responded to her new status very unsympathetically.

Not everyone is so strong mentally to take constant taunts/bullying etc. We see cases here often of people being picked on. Here it is more intense than facebook I imagine. Far less users and we kind of get to know people. That also goes for some board users here who find it funny when some are being picked on and reply on certain threads with sarcastic comments and dancing emoticons.

So next time…….take a step back and think. After all we are all adults.

I hate bullies but I seem to attract them for some reason.

Bullies are just demented thugs who don’t really have much to say, but will still tell you what a “pr1ck” you are. It’s happened to me. Usually their vocabulary is limited, but they still manage to get their message across to your friends and that’s the whole point – trying to make you look worthless in front of them.

Sometimes I wonder if they do it as a means of seeking approval from a group or clique
Pip and Lucky are two of the worst offenders that I know of.

Well I hope I have never bullied anyone here. I do use dancing emotions though so I hope kenty does not think I have ever?

I dont go into chat because I hate to witness people fighting and bullying there, just to observe it and not step in seems to me to condone it in some way. So I just stay away from it altogether.

I agree with you Terry, I think there must be an underlying reason why people do it, I would hate to think they are just plain evil.

Message board bullying gets a bit personal. When you stand up to it you get others joining in with a more subtle approach. It’s all psychological bullying and done to make you feel as uncomfortable as possible.

I do feel for anyone who’s subjected to it, especially when the message board moderators aren’t a solution but become part of the problem instead.

Sorry Mrs T….there is nothing wrong with using the dancing emoticon. I was referring to it used along with “what goes around comes around”, as that is just as bad as being a bully. Letting bullies know what they are doing is funny, just so you think you get one up on someone who doesn’t give a damn.
    Apologies :?

Bullying takes many forms, and I hate it when people say it’s not real life, it’s just words on a screen…words have power, not everyone can shake it off like water off a duck’s back. Sadly many of the worst bullies don’t even see themselves as bullies, they defend their actions in a playground he-said-she-said kind of way. Two wrongs do not make a right.

What is sadder about this case is that people didn’t act on it. Maybe she had taken overdoses in the past, maybe she had lied, but no matter what, I’d like to think if someone I knew posted such a message that I would pick up the phone to them, call around or try to get someone else to call around. To shrug and say it’s her life…well words fail me. I hope those people who did nothing can live with themselves.

    well said.

The worst bit is when a bully says something demeaning about you on a message board and then the others join in and agree with him. It’s almost like being attacked by a pack of hyenas out for blood.

Everybody on message boards has smoe kind of flaw and I’m no different, but I just hate it when somebody tries to humiliate me by pointing that flaw out for general discussion.
I would never do that to anybody.

Well I for one am perfect Terry!

Seriously though, even those people who say nothing upsets them here I’m sure are secretly affected. The written word is very powerful. None of us like criticism especially when its unjustified and for the so called entertainment of others.
