A true Hero policeman David Rathband was found dead after tweeting: “Lost my sight, my job, my wife and my marriage”

Shortly before 7pm on Wednesday, alone in his home in Blyth, Northumberland, the 44-year-old officer hanged himself. The father-of-two left no suicide note, but a short time earlier he is thought to have sent a relative so worrying a message that police were immediately sent to his door.
Paramedics arrived in time to attempt to revive him, but it was too late. A tragic story, I can’t stop thinking about him

RIP PC David Rathband……..I hope you can find peace now xxxxx

I agree with you one hundred per cent Lucy , it is sad that a person , an officer of the once
respected ” law ” was purposley targeted by a heinous criminal. That person after trying to
kill two other people said that they were going to target the Police , it is sad that David Rathband was truly in the unfortunate wrong place at the wrong time.

I feel sad at the fact that after the event , for whatever circumstances his wife and the Police
force were unable to offer the necessary support and help that may or may not have helped
Mr Rathband. On those issues we cannot judge but can only offer our condolences.

I found it very touching that in an interview he said that he was unable to witness his
daughters wedding or even see what his son-in-law looked like. These are the things
that the more fortunate amongst us take for granted. The lesson to be learned from
this is to not take for granted what we have in our lives but to make the best of it.

    R.I.P. Mr. David Rathband.
