Actually, as keeps getting repeated, it isn’t as simple as a simple block. If it was online bullying would have ended years ago. You paint the world as if it black and white, if only life was so uncomplicated.

Why is it so hard for you to understand when I make statements like that I am only talking about online bullying?

Being forced to stay relaxed with little movement in which I hate cause keep busy usually, off work today, must say this thread has been one in which it is so sad has provided wealth of thoughts/opinions, and thank you for other views.
Helps me too think when actions may come up quickly and decisions are being made..

America as well has tremendous issues in the school systems. Implementing programs now and provided professionals has even filtered into college and work establishments, in which programs are being provided. Had one program last year myself in which we help many people, the how bullying can hurt us and be returned back in violence if client does not get help or needs provided. Even how bosses bully to get work done with threats. Kids in school beat up teachers and bully about grades provided.Interesting…
Statistics can not provide at moment. I can tell you in my local district 4 last year. Junior/senior high school. New fear perhaps of becoming more independent????? All so sad and loss of life…

I knew it would be a bad idea to post on this thread because people would react emotionally and blind them to what I am actually trying to say.

Drac a kid was bullied to death…of course people will react emotionally…how do,you expect them to react?

Bullies in any shape or,form  are scum of the earth. If the consequences of bullying were severe, it MAY help prevent things like this from happening.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea that you posted Draculina, healthy debate is good… Everyone has their own opinion on things and I think this has been quite a good discussion. I personally never thought it would get so deep, I watched a sad video about bullying, shared, open and shut case for me, we should try and be nice to people to avoid things like this, easier said than done at times I know…

p.s. I posted this before the last 2 comments, you guys are fast :)

Rationally, if you want to prevent it happening to other kids.

Maybe you don’t care about that, I don’t know. But I have young children, and it’s in my interest in preventing them from commiting suicide.

Drac….it maybe online bullying….however…as is usually the case, the scummy bully attends the same school/college as the person they are bullying, so blocking someone isnt going to work is it? Why is that so hard for you to understand?

It stop the online aspect of the bullying, in order to stop any physical part then other measures must be taken. As I have repeatedly said during this thread.

I do understand. You are looking at it with adult eyes in the context of a site like JC. Children network with people they know, they belong to the same network groups. They socialize in the same network groups. Blocking one individual, or five, will not halt online bullying. In fact it will probably make it worse as has been explained, the blurred lines between online and offline.

Yes of course I care. I wouldnt be taking part in this discussion otherwise would I? And I have three children myself. Two of them were picked on at school, badly enough for me to involve the police. Didnt happen again.

It is the role of a parent to advise them on what they should do. As they have ‘adult eyes’ as you descibe it.

And yes, blocking the people involved will halt it, words cannot hurt you if you can’t see them.

(Not that they should hurt you when you can see them)
