Just watched that video Craig, so in Birmingham it was the police that caused the Riots?

Scary stuff indeed, is it cleaned up now – or starting to??

I do not feel that I have the right to ignorantly comment as I don’t know the great details of what prompted this explosion of Anarchism, apart from what dad had been rambling on about :P
I don’t usually watch mainstream news or media but…. I have seen the footage that has been handpicked and it does look terrifying.
I have this as a sticky on my desktop from an Essay I read online and upon watching the footage, it reminded me of it…

“Compared with the wholesale violence of capital and government, political acts of violence are but a drop in the ocean. That so few resist is the strongest proof how terrible must be the conflict between their souls and unbearable social iniquities.

High strung, like a violin string, they weep and moan for life, so relentless, so cruel, so terribly inhuman. In a desperate moment the string breaks. Untuned ears hear nothing but discord. But those who feel the agonized cry understand its harmony; they hear in it the fulfillment of the most compelling moment of human nature”

Well judging by that video it seems so I guess.

I was up town not long before it all started. I saw a gang of about 20-odd people gathering. I wasn’t sure what it was all about. Then later some guy asked me for 4p (lol), and then asked if there a lot of police in town, and then if there was a lot of people. I didn’t know why he asked me at the time, but I guess we know now.

As for the state now. Well apparently there’s still stuff going on. I’ve liked a Live Updates page on Facebook, and there’s rioting taking place in places like Sutton, Handsworth, Solihull etc according to fans of the page.

There was this status from the page 15 minutes ago:

Birmingham Riots 2011 – Live Updates
Very proud of how birmingham is working together to clean up after last night. This is a great city and a few idiots won’t change that.

So I’m guessing there’s some improvement. I wonder what next though to be honest..

    EDIT: There’s also this.. http://www.itv.com/central-east/midlands-riots-latest82116/
