That is so true. I’m not a fan, so her death is only (or at least) as tragic as any young person’s.

As to whether the incident that caused her death was because of drugs, it’s true we don’t know the official verdict, but I have little doubt the drugs she used are at least associated with the decline of her mind and body and won’t have helped her ability to withstand whatever did actually make the moment fatal.

Like any other cultural/personal trait, respecting the individual while discouraging the negative aspects is difficult: there are elements of choice, but the coercive effects of peer pressure are difficult to resist once you’re an established part of any group
