James Taylor
When youre down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights. You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
Ill come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Youve got a friend. If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
Ill come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.Hey, aint it good to know that youve got a friend?
People can be so cold.
Theyll hurt you and desert you.
Well theyll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but dont you let them. You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
Ill come running to see you again.
Oh babe, dont you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all youve got to do is call.
Lord, Ill be there, yes I will.
Youve got a friend.
Youve got a friend.
Aint it good to know youve got a friend.
Aint it good to know youve got a friend.
Youve got a friend.18 April, 2008 at 12:02 am #139623poli im a big simon and garfunkel fan too ………here is one of my all time favs xxxx
I am just a poor boy and my storys seldom told
Ive squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still the man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmmWhen I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would knowLi la li…
Asking only workmans wages, I come lookin for a job, but I get no offers
Just a comeon from the whores on 7th avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort thereNow the years are rolling by me, they are rockin even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than Ill be, thats not unusual
No it isnt strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the sameLi la li…
And Im laying out my winter clothes, wishing I was gone, goin home
Where the new york city winters arent bleedin me, leadin me to go homeIn the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remainsLi la li…

18 April, 2008 at 8:57 pm #139627A tenement, a dirty street
Walked and worn by shoeless feet
Inside it’s long and so complete
Watched by a shivering sun
Old eyes in a small child’s face
Watching as the shadows race
Through walls and cracks and leave no trace
And daylight’s brightness shunsThe days of pearly spencer
The race is almost runNose pressed hard on frosted glass
Gazing as the swollen mass
On concrete fields where grows no grass
Stumbles blindly on
Iron trees smother the air
But withering they stand and stare
Through eyes that neither know nor care
Where the grass is goneThe days of pearly spencer
The race is almost runPearly where’s your milk white skin
What’s that stubble on your chin
It’s buried in the rot gut gin
You played and lost not won
You played a house that can’t be beat
Now look your head’s bowed in defeat
You walked too far along the street
Where only rats can runThe days of pearly spencer
The race is almost run
The days of pearly spencer
The race is almost run
The race is almost runA tenement, a dirty street
Remember worn and shoeless feet
Remember how you stood to beat
The way your life had gone
So pearly don’t you shed more tears
For those best forgotten years
Those tenements are memories
Of where you’ve risen fromThe days of pearly spencer
The race is almost won18 April, 2008 at 9:07 pm #139628wendy moten
Ooo-ooo-oo
Ooo-oo-oo
Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooYou said you believed that we’d
Find love together happily
After all the wrong I’ve done
You feel that I’m still the one
To give your loving to
So bring it home to youYou told me that you’d love me if I’d ever change
Welcome me into your arms again
Come on in out of the rain, hey
There’s a place in your heart to love me again
Happiness and joy you bring
When you call my name
Come on in out of the rainI loved no one but you
But I strayed, I know I made you blue
You spoke unto my very soul
You warmed my heart that once was cold
Now I’m so glad to knowYou told me that you’d love me if I’d ever change
Welcome me into your arms again
Come on in out of the rain, hey
There’s a place in your heart to love me again
Happiness and joy you bring
When you call my name
Come on in out of the rain20 April, 2008 at 6:55 pm #139629smile an ever lasting smile

Lay beside me, tell me what they’ve done
And speak the words I wanna hear, to make my demons run
The door is locked now, but it’s opened if you’re true
If you can understand the me, and I can understand the youLay beside me, under wicked sky
Black of day, dark of night, we share this paralyze
The door cracks open, but there’s no sun shining through
Black heart scarring darker still, but there’s no sun shining through
No, there’s no sun shining through
No there’s no sun shiningWhat I’ve felt, what I’ve known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?Yeah
What I’ve felt, what I’ve known
Sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, ’cause I’m the one who waits for you
Or are you unforgiven too?Come lay beside me, this won’t hurt I swear
She loves me not, she loves me still, but she’ll never love again
She lay beside me, but she’ll be there when I’m gone
Black heart scarring darker still, but she’ll be there when I’m gone
Yes she’ll be there when I’m gone
Dead sure she’ll be thereWhat I’ve felt, what I’ve known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you? What I’ve felt, what I’ve known
Sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, cause I’m the one who waits for you
Or are you unforgiven too?Lay beside me, tell me what I’ve done
The door is closed, so are your eyes
But now I see the sun, now I see the sun
Yes, now I see itWhat I’ve felt, what I’ve known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for youWhat I’ve felt, what I’ve known
So sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there, cause I’m the one who waits
The one who waits for youOh, what I’ve felt, what I’ve known
Turn the pages, turn to stone
Behind the door, should I open it for youOh, what I’ve felt
Oh, what I’ve knownI take this key
And I bury it in you
Because you’re unforgiven tooNever free
Never me
Because you’re unforgiven too21 April, 2008 at 7:59 pm #139631Today is my Mam’s birthday.
This is for her and for all Mothers..The Lazarus Heart
He looked beneath his shirt today
There was a wound in his flesh so deep and wide
From the wound a lovely flower grew
From somewhere deep inside
He turned around to face his mother
To show her the wound in his breast that burned like a brand
But the sword that cut him open
Was the sword in his mother’s handEvery day another miracle
Only death will tear us apart
To sacrifice a life for yours
I’d be the blood of the Lazarus heart
The blood of the Lazarus heartThough the sword was his protection
The wound itself would give him power
The power to remake himself at the time of his darkest hour
She said the wound would give him courage and pain
The kind of pain that you can’t hide
From the wound a lovely flower grew
From somewhere deep insideEvery day another miracle
Only death will keep us apart
To sacrifice a life for yours
I’d be the blood of the Lazarus heart
The blood of the Lazarus heartBirds on the roof of my mother’s house
I’ve no stones that chase them away
Birds on the roof of my mother’s house
Will sit on my own roof some day
They fly at the window they fly at the door
Where does she get the strength to fight them anymore?
She counts all her children as a shield against the pain
Lifts her eyes to the sky like a flower to the rainEvery day another miracle
Only death will keep us apart
To sacrifice a life for yours
I’d be the blood of the Lazarus heart
The blood of the Lazarus heartxx
