From pigtails to wedding veils
From pinafores to lace
And in between are the special years
Time never can eraseFrom play toys to college boys
From little girl to wife
And in between are the special years
You remember all of your lifeThe special years are filled
With sweet promises and pain
But love will never taste
Quite so wonderful againSo slow up, don’t rush to grow up
You’ll be a woman before long
So stay awhile in the special years
Their magic will soon be goneJust stay awhile in the special years
Their magic – will soon be gone…2 March, 2008 at 11:28 pm #139523from the film chicago …
Amos:
If someone stood up in a crowd
And raised his voice up way out loud
And waved his arm and shook his leg
You’d notice himIf someone in the movie show
Yelled “Fire in the second row
This whole place is a powder keg!”
You’d notice himAnd even without clucking like a hen
Everyone gets noticed, now and then,
Unless, of course, that personage should be
Invisible, inconsequential me!Cellophane
Mister Cellophane
Shoulda been my name
Mister Cellophane
‘Cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I’m there…I tell ya
Cellophane
Mister Cellophane
Shoulda been my name
Mister Cellophane
‘Cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I’m there…Suppose you was a little cat
Residin’ in a person’s flat
Who fed you fish and scratched your ears?
You’d notice himSuppose you was a woman, wed
And sleepin’ in a double bed
Beside one man, for seven years
You’d notice himA human being’s made of more than air
With all that bulk, you’re bound to see him there
Unless that human bein’ next to you
Is unimpressive, undistinguished
You know who…Cellophane
Mister Cellophane
Shoulda been my name
Mister Cellophane
‘Cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I’m there…
I tell ya
Cellophane
Mister Cellophane
Shoulda been my name
Mister Cellophane
‘Cause you can look right through me
Walk right by me
And never know I’m there
Never even know I’m there.Hope I didn’t take up too much of your time.
3 March, 2008 at 6:20 pm #139524I’m a big smiths fan and the best song ever is how soon is now. I just been in youtube and seen “tatu” remember those russain lezzers from some time back do a version of it. Apart from them recking it there it also shows what a great guitarist Johnny Marr is cus the tatu guitarist just cant pull it off.
I think the above is just enough for another cold war !!! :D
3 March, 2008 at 7:34 pm #139525I love the piano in this one.
“Littlest Things” Lily Allen
Sometimes I find myself sittin’ back and reminiscing
Especially when I have to watch other people kissin’
And I remember when you started callin’ me your miss’s
All the play fightin’, all the flirtatious disses
I’d tell you sad stories about my childhood
I don’t why I trusted you but I knew that I could
We’d spend the whole weekend lying in our own dirt
I was just so happy in your boxers and your t-shirt[Chorus]
Dreams, Dreams
Of when we had just started things
Dreams of you and me
It seems, It seems
That I can’t shake those memories
I wonder if you have the same dreams too.The littlest things that take me there
I know it sounds lame but its so true
I know its not right, but it seems unfair
That the things are reminding me of you
Sometimes I wish we could just pretend
Even if only for one weekend
So come on, Tell me
Is this the end?Drinkin’ tea in bed
Watching DVD’s
When I discovered all your dirty grotty magazines
You take me out shopping and all we’d buy is trainers
As if we ever needed anything to entertain us
the first time that you introduced me to your friends
and you could tell I was nervous, so you held my hand
when I was feeling down, you made that face you do
There’s no one in the world that could replace you[Chorus]
Dreams, Dreams
Of when we had just started things
Dreams of me and you
It seems, It seems
That I can’t shake those memories
I wonder if you feel the same way tooThe littlest things that take me there
I know it sounds lame but its so true
I know its not right, but it seems unfair
That the things reminding me of you
Sometimes I wish we could just pretend
Even if only for one weekend
So come on, Tell me
Is this the end?was going to put the link to youtube up, but the bass is rubbish, so it just sounds tinny

Ataris – So Long, Astoria Lyrics
It was the first snow of the season
i can almost see you breathin
in the middle of that empty streetSometimes i still see myself
in that lonesome bedroom
playin my guitar
and singing songs of hope
for a better futurelife is
only
as good as the memories we make
and i’m taking back what belongs to mepolaroids of classrooms unattended
these relics of remembrance
are just like shipwrecks
only theyre gone faster
than the smell after it rainslast night while everyone was sleepin
i tripped through my old neighborhood
and resurrected memories from asheswe said that we would never fit in
we were really just like them
does rebellion ever make a differencelife is
only
as good as the memories we make
and im taking back what belongs to me
these relics of remembrence
are just like shipwrecks
only theyre gone faster
than the smell after it rainsSo long astoria
i found a map to buried treasure
and even if we come home empty handed
well still have our stories
of battle scars, pirate ships and wounded hearts,
broken bones, and all the best of friendshipsand when this hourglass
has filtered out
its final grain of sand
i raise my glass to the memories we had
this is my wish
this is my wish
im takin back
im takin them all back4 March, 2008 at 4:29 pm #139527Have you seen the old man
In the closed-down market
Kicking up the paper,
with his worn out shoes?
In his eyes you see no pride
And held loosely at his side
Yesterday’s paper telling yesterday’s newsSo how can you tell me you’re lonely,
And say for you that the sun don’t shine?
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London
I’ll show you something to make you change your mindHave you seen the old girl
Who walks the streets of London
Dirt in her hair and her clothes in rags?
She’s no time for talking,
She just keeps right on walking
Carrying her home in two carrier bags.So how can you tell me you’re lonely,
And say for you that the sun don’t shine?
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London
I’ll show you something to make you change your mindIn the all night cafe
At a quarter past eleven,
Same old man is sitting there on his own
Looking at the world
Over the rim of his tea-cup,
Each tea last an hour
Then he wanders home aloneSo how can you tell me you’re lonely,
And say for you that the sun don’t shine?
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London
I’ll show you something to make you change your mindAnd have you seen the old man
Outside the seaman’s mission
Memory fading with
The medal ribbons that he wears.
In our winter city,
The rain cries a little pity
For one more forgotten hero
And a world that doesn’t careSo how can you tell me you’re lonely,
And say for you that the sun don’t shine?
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London
I’ll show you something to make you change your mindRalph McTell

8 March, 2008 at 2:18 am #139529Give me a kiss to build a dream on
And my imagination will thrive upon that kiss
Sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A kiss to build a dream onGive me a kiss before you leave me
And my imagination will feed my hungry heart
Leave me one thing before we part
A kiss to build a dream onWhen Im alone with my fancies…Ill be with you
Weaving romances…making believe theyre trueGive me your lips for just a moment
And my imagination will make that moment live
Give me what you alone can give
A kiss to build a dream on(instrumental break)
When Im alone with my fancies…Ill be with you
Weaving romances…making believe theyre trueGive me a kiss to build a dream on
And my imagination will thrive upon that kiss
Ah sweetheart, I ask no more than this

8 March, 2008 at 12:55 pm #139530this song is one of my youngest daughters all time favourites, i can never listen to it without thinking of her……… so this is for you…….. my Elizabeth xxxx
Its late in the evening
Shes wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make up
And brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me
Do I look alright
And I say yes, you look wonderful tonightWe go a party
And everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady
Thats walking around with me
And then she asks me
Do you feel alright
And I say yes, I feel wonderful tonightI feel wonderful
Because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just dont realize
How much I love youIts time to go home now
And Ive got an aching head
So I give her the car keys
She helps me to bed
And then I tell her
As I turn out the light
I say my darling, you were wonderful tonight
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonightEric Clapton

I’m Only Sleeping
( J. Lennon, P. McCartney )
When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head, I’m still jawning.
When I’m in the middle of a dream,
Stay in bed, float up stream. Please don’t wake me, no don’t shake me,
Leave me where I am
I’m only sleeping.Ev’rybody seems to think I’m lazy,
I don’t mind, I think they’re crazy.
Running ev’rywhere at such a speed
‘Til they find there’s no need. Please don’t spoil my day, I’m miles away
And after all
I’m only sleeping.Keeping an eye on the world going by my window,
Taking my time,
Lying there and staring at the ceiling,
Waiting for a sleepy feeling. Please don’t spoil my day, I’m miles away
And after all
I’m only sleeping. When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head, I’m still jawning.
When I’m in the middle of a dream,
Stay in bed, float up stream. Please don’t wake me, no don’t shake me,
Leave me where I am
I’m only sleeping. -
