The Everlasting
The gap that grows between our lives
The gap our parents never had
Stop those thoughts control your mind
Replace the things that you despise
Oh you’re old I hear you say
It doesn’t mean that I don’t care
I don’t believe in it anymore
Pathetic acts for a worthless causeIn the beginning when we were winning
When our smiles were genuineBut now unforgiven the everlasting
EverlastingThe world is full of refugees
They’re just like you and just like me
But as people we have a choice
To end the void with all its force
So don’t forget or don’t pretend
It’s all the same now in the end
It was set in a different life
Destroys my days and haunts my nightsIn the beginning when we were winning
When our smiles were genuineBut now unforgiven the everlasting
EverlastingIn the beginning when we were winning
When our smiles were genuineBut now unforgiven the everlasting

Give me some of that heroin
Some of that cocaineHeroin, heroin and cocaine
Heroin, heroin and cocaine
Heroin, heroin and cocaine

He gave Jimmy the cane
He shared his syringe with a class full of boys
Now they all want the sameHeroin, heroin and cocaine

But please don’t you cry
Because Jimmy is in heaven with his drugs

11/12/1971 – 4 weeks at #1 – 17 weeks on chartYou could hear the hoof beats pound
As they raced across the ground
And the clatter of the wheels
As they spun round and round
And he galloped into Market Street
His badge upon his chest
His name was Ernie
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westNow Ernie loved a widow
A lady known as Sue
She lived all alone in Linley Lane
At number twenty two
They said she was too good for him
She was haughty, proud and chic
But Ernie got his cocoa there
Three times every week
They called him Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westShe said she’d like to bathe in milk
He said alright sweetheart
And when he finished work one night
He loaded up the cart
He said you wanted pasturised
Coz pasturised is best
She says Ernie I’ll be happy
If it comes up to me chest
And that tickled old Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westNow Ernie had a rival
An evil looking man
Called Two Ton Ted from Teddington
And he drove the bakers van
He tempted her with his treacle tarts
And his tasty wholemeal bread
And when she saw the size
Of his hot meat pies
It very near turned her head
She nearly swooned at his macaroon
And he said now if you treat me right
You’ll have hot rolls evry morning
And crumpets every night
He knew once she’d sampled his layer cake
He’d have his wicked way
And all Ernie had to offer
Was a pint of milk a day
Poor Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westOne lunchtime Ted saw Ernie’s horse and cart outside her door
It drove him mad to find it was still there at half past four
And as he leaped down from of his van
Hot blood through his veins did course
And he went across to Ernie’s cart
And he didnarf kick his horse
Who’s name was Trigger (Trigger)
And he pulled the fastest milkcart in the westNow Ernie rushed out into the street
His goldtop in his hand
He said if you want to marry susie
You’ll fight for her like a man
Oh why don’t we play cards for her
He sneeringly replied
And just to make it interesting
We’ll have a shilling on the side
Now Ernie dragged him from his van
And beneath the blazing sun
They stood there face to face
And Ted went for his bun
But Ernie was to quick
Things didn’t go the way ted planned
And a strawberry flavoured youghurt
Sent it spinning from his hand
Now Sue she ran between them
And tried to keep them apart
And Ernie pushed her aside
And a rock cake caught him underneath his heart
And he looked up in pained surprise
As the concrete hardened crust
Of a stale pork pie caught him in the eye
And Ernie bit the dust
Poor Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the westErnie was only fifty-two, he didn’t want to die
Now he’s gone to make deliveries
In that milkround in the sky
Where the customers are angels
And ferocious dogs are banned
And a milkmans life is full of fun
In that fairy dairy land
But a woman’s needs are many fold
And Sue she married Ted
But strange things happened on their wedding night
As they lay in their bed
Was that the trees a rustling
Or the hinges of the gate
Or Ernies ghostly goldtop a rattling in their crate
They won’t forget Ernie (Ernie)
And he drove the fastest milkcart in the west15 July, 2006 at 6:26 pm #139255Woman In Chains
You better love loving and you better behave
You better love loving and you better behave
Woman in Chains
Woman in ChainsCalls her man the Great White Hope
Says she’s fine, she’ll always cope
Oh Woman in Chains
Woman in Chains
Well I feel
Lying and waiting is a poor man’s deal
A poor man’s deal
And I feel
Hopelessly weighed down by your eyes of steel
Your eyes of steel
Well it’s a world gone crazy
Keeps Woman in ChainsWoman in Chains
Woman in ChainsTrades her soul as skin and bones
You better love loving and you better behave
Sells the only thing she owns
You better love loving and you better behave
Oh Woman in Chains.. sun and the moon
Woman in ChainsMen of stone
Men of stone
Oh no..Well I feel
Deep in your heart there are wounds time can’t heal
That time can’t heal
And I feel
Somebody somewhere is trying to breathe
Well you know what I mean
It’s a world gone crazy
Keeps Woman in ChainsIt’s under my skin but out of my hands
I’ll tear it apart but I won’t understand
I will not accept the Greatness of Man
It’s a world gone crazy
Keeps Woman in Chains
Gone crazy keeps Woman in ChainsSo Free Her…
The sun and the moon..
The wind and the rain..So Free Her

15 July, 2006 at 11:09 pm #139256Friday night I’m going nowhere
All the lights are changing green to red
Turning over tv stations
Situations running through my head
Well looking back through time
You know its clear that Ive been blind
Ive been a fool
To ever open up my heart
To all that jealousy, that bitterness, that ridiculeSaturday I’m running wild
And all the lights are changing red to green
Moving through the crowd Im pushing
Chemicals all rushing through my bloodstream
Only wish that you were here
You know Im seeing it so clear
Ive been afraid
To tell you how I really feel
Admit to some of those bad mistakes Ive madeIf you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it nowBabylon, Babylon
Sunday all the lights of London
Shining , sky is fading red to blue
Im kicking through the autumn leaves
And wondering where it is you might be going to
Turning back for home
You know Im feeling so alone
I cant believe
Climbing on the stair
I turn around to see you smiling there
In front of meIf you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it nowBabylon, Babylon, Babylon

Artist: Paolo Nutini
Album: These Streets
Year: 2006
Title: These Streets Print
CorrectCross the border,
Into the big bad world
where it takes you ’bout an hour
just to cross the road
just to stumble across another poor old soul from
The dreary old lanes to the high-street madness
Eye fight with my brain to believe my eyes
and it’s harder than you think
to believe this sadness
that creeps up my spine
and haunts me through the night
and life is good and the girls are gorgeuos
suddenly the air smells much greener now
and I’m wondering ’round
with a half pack of cigarettes
searching for the change that I’ve lost somehowThese streets have too many names for me
I’m used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in quay
I’ll get used to this eventually
I know, I knowwhere’d the days go? When all we did was play
And the stress that we were under wasn’t stress at all
just a run and a jump into a harmless fall from
walking by a high-rise to a landmark square
you see millions of people with millions of cares
And I struggle to the train to make my way home
I look at the people as they sit there aloneLife is good, and the sun is shining
Everybody flirts to their ideal place
And the children all smile as a boat shuffled by them
Trying to pretend that they’ve got som spaceThese streets have too many names for me
I’m used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in quay
I’ll get used to this eventually
I know, I knowThese streets have too many names for me
I’m used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in quay
I’ll get used to this eventually
I know, I knowLife is good, and the girls are gorgeous
suddenly the air smells much greener now
and I’m wondering ’round
with a half pack of cigarettes
searching for the change that I’ve lost somehowThese streets have too many names for me
I’m used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in quay
I’ll get used to this eventually
I know, I knowThese streets have too many names for me
I’m used to Glenfield road and spending my time down in our quay

Artist: Paolo Nutini
Album: These Streets
Year: 2006
Title: Rewind Print
CorrectPickin up the pieces
of the wreck you went and left
and i’m dealing with dilemmas
in my not-so-stressful life
and i’m drinking stronger spirits
i made my home here on the floor
and i’m losing all ambition
i’m a ghostand i’m going all out
and i’m thinking you’re just as badno sleeping at night
but i’m going from bar to bar
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewindoh remember at 16
oh the crazy drunken night we had
when i kissed you in the hallway
then i took you straight to bedwell 2 years on
and i’m still that same boy i wasno sleeping at night
but i’m going from bar to bar
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewind ohno sleeping at night
but i’m going from bar to bar
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewind ohyou might blame it on me
but you persisted that we fold
wiped your hands of me
and said you needed more, more, moreand i’m not sleeping at night
but i’m going from bar to bar
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewind
why can’t we just rewind ohand i’m not sleeping at night
but i’m going from bar to bar

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai Guru Deva
OM
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my worldImages of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai Guru Deva
OM
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my worldSounds of laughter shades of life are ringing through my opened ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
And calls me on and on across the universe
