There you are, in a darkened room
And you’re all alone, looking out the window
Your heart is cold and lost the will to love
    Like a broken arrow
Here I stand in the shadows
    In the shadows
Come to come, come to me
    Can’t you see that

    Nobody wants to be lonely
    Nobody wants to cry
My body’s longing to hold you
    So bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it’s slipping away
And I’ve been waiting for you all of my life (ohh)
    Nobody wants to be lonely
So why (why), why don’t you let me love you

Why (ooh ohh yeah), why (oh why), why

    Ooh ooh, yeah
Can you hear my voice, do you hear my song
It’s a seranade, so your heart can find me, ohh
And suddenly you’re flying down the stairs
    Into my arms, baby, ohh

    Before I start going crazy
    Going crazy, ohh
    Run to me
    Run to me
    Cause I’m dying…

    Nobody wants to be lonely
Nobody wants to cry (I don’t wanna cry)
My body’s longing to hold you (I’m longing to hold you)
    So bad it hurts inside
Time is precious and it’s slipping away
And I’ve been waiting for you all of my life (ohh)
    Nobody wants to be lonely
    So why

Why, why don’t you let me love you
I wanna feel you need me
    Feel you need me
Just like the air you’re breathing
Breathing, I need you here in my life

Don’t walk away, don’t walk away
Don’t walk alway, don’t walk away
    No, no, no, no…

    Nobody wants to be lonely
    Nobody wants to cry…yeah yeah

Nobody wants to be lonely (yeah ohh ooh)
Nobody wants to cry (nobody wants to cry)
My body’s longing to hold you (is longing to hold you)
So bad it hurts inside (hurts inside)
Time is precious and it’s slipping away
And I’ve been waiting for you all of my life (ohh)
    Nobody wants to be lonely
So why (why), why don’t you let me love you
    Let me love you…

Why (why), let me love you
Why don’t you let me love you
Why, love you, let me love you

    Why (why)

Love can be a many splendid thing
    Has another joy you bring
    A dozen roses
    Diamond rings
    Dreams for sale
    And fairy tales
It’ll make you hear a symphony
And you’ll just want the world to see
But like a drunk that makes you blind
    It’ll fool you every time

    The trouble with love is
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie
    Gets stronger than your pride
    The trouble with love is
It doesn’t care how fast you fall
And you can’t refuse the call
See you’ve got no say at all

Now I was just a once a fool it’s true
I played the game by all the rules
But now my world’s a deeper blue
I’m sadder but I’m wiser too
I swore I’d never love again
I swore my heart would never mend
Said love wasn’t worth the pain
But then I hear it call my name

    The trouble with love is
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie
    Gets stronger than your pride
    The trouble with love is
It doesn’t care how fast you fall
And you can’t refuse the call
See you’ve got no say at all

    Every time I turn around
I think I’ve got it all
    My heart keeps callin
    And I keep on fallin
    Over and over again
This set story always ends the same
Me standin in the pouring rain
It seems no matter what I do
It tears my heart in two

The trouble with love is (the trouble with love)
It can tear you up inside (it can tear you up in side)
Make your heart believe a lie (Make your heart believe a lie)
    Gets stronger than your pride
(The trouble with love is) See your heart its in your soul
(It doesn’t care how fast you fall) You wont remember control (?)
(And you can’t refuse the call)
See you’ve got no say at all
The trouble with love is (Oooo….ya)
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie (the trouble with love..)

    enjoy the silence

    words like violence

    break the silence

    come crashing in

    into my little world

    painful to me

    pierce right through me

    can’t you understand

    oh my little girl

    all i ever wanted

    all i ever needed

    is here in my arms

    words are very unnecessary

    they can only do harm

    vows are spoken

    to be broken

    feelings are intense

    words are trivial

    pleasures remain

    so does the pain

    words are meaningless

    and forgettable

    all i ever wanted

    all i ever needed

    is here in my arms

    words are very unnecessary

    they can only do harm

    all i ever wanted

    all i ever needed

    is here in my arms

    words are very unnecessary

    they can only do harm

    all i ever wanted

    all i ever needed

    is here in my arms

    words are very unnecessary

    they can only do harm

No, you can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
    You get what you need

    A stone’s throw from Jerusalem
I walked a lonely mile in the moonlight
And though a million stars were shining
My heart was lost on a distant planet
That whirls around the April moon
Whirling in an arc of sadness
I’m lost without you, I’m lost without you

Though all my kingdoms turn to sand and fall into the sea
I’m mad about you, I’m mad about you

And from the dark secluded valleys
I heard the ancient songs of sadness
But every step I thought of you
    Every footstep only you
Every star a grain of sand
The leavings of a dried up ocean
    Tell me, how much longer,
    How much longer?

They say a city in the desert lies
The vanity of an ancient king
But the city lies in broken pieces
Where the wind howls and the vultures sing
These are the works of man
This is the sum of our ambition
It would make a prison of my life
    If you became another’s wife

With every prison blown to dust, my enemies walk free
I’m mad about you, I’m mad about you

And I have never in my life
Felt more alone than I do now
Although I claim dominions over all I see
    It means nothing to me
    There are no victories
    In all our histories
    Without love

    A stone’s throw from Jerusalem
I walked a lonely mile in the moonlight
And though a million stars were shining
My heart was lost on a distant planet
That whirls around the April moon
Whirling in an arc of sadness
I’m lost without you, I’m lost without you

And though you hold the keys to ruin of everything I see
With every prison blown to dust, my enemies walk free
Though all my kingdoms turn to sand and fall into the sea
I’m mad about you, I’m mad about you.

Have you ever been close to tragedy?
Or been close to folks who have?
Have you ever felt a pain so powerful
    So heavy you collapse?
I’ve never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could
    It makes me wonder if
I’ve never had to knock on wood
    And I’m glad I haven’t yet
Because I’m sure it isn’t good
That’s the impression that I get
Have you ever had the odds stacked up so high
You need a strength most don’t possess?
Or has it ever come down to do or die?
You’ve got to rise above the rest
I’ve never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could
    It makes me wonder if
I’ve never had to knock on wood
    And I’m glad I haven’t yet
Because I’m sure it isn’t good
That’s the impression that I get
    I’m not a coward,
    I’ve just never been tested
I’d like to think that if I was,
    I would pass
Look at the tested and think there but for the grace go
    I might be a coward,
I’m afraid of what I might find out
I’ve never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could
    It makes me wonder if
I’ve never had to knock on wood
    And I’m glad I haven’t yet
Because I’m sure it isn’t good
That’s the impression that I get

    I will love you anyway
    Even if you cannot stay
I think you are the one for me
Here is where you ought to be
I just want to satisfy ya
    Though you’re not mine
    I can’t deny ya
Don’t you hear me talking baby?
Love me now or I’ll go crazy

    Chorus:
    Oh sweet thing
Don’t you know you’re my everything?
    Oh sweet thing
Don’t you know you’re my everything?
    Yes, you are

I wish you were my lover
    But ya act so undercover
To love you child my who life long
Be it right, or be it wrong
I’m only what you make me, baby
Don’t walk away, don’t be so shady
Don’t want your mind, don’t want your money
These words I say, they may sound funny, but…

    Chorus

    You are my heat
    You are my fire
You make me weak with strong desire
To love you chile my whole life long
Be it right, or be it wrong
I just want to satisfy ya
    Though you’re not mine
    I can’t deny ya
Don’t you hear me talking baby?
Love me now or I’ll go crazy

    Vamp:
You’re my heat, you are my fire
    You’re not mine, I can’t deny ya
Don’t you hear me talking, baby?
Love me now, or I’ll go crazy

    Hurricane

Pistol shots ring out in the bar-room night
Enter Patty Valentine from the upper hall.
She sees the bartender in a pool of blood,
Cries out, my god, they killed them all!
Here comes the story of The Hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin’ that he never done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
    The champion of the world.

Three bodies lyin’ there does Patty see
And another man named Bello, movin’ around mysteriously.
I didn’t do it, he says, and he throws up his hands
I was only robbin’ the register, I hope you understand.
I saw them leavin’, he says, and he stops
One of us had better call up the cops.
And so Patty calls the cops
And they arrive on the scene with their red lights flashin’
In the hot New Jersey night.

Meanwhile, far away in another part of town
Rubin Carter and a couple of friends are drivin’ around.
Number one contender for the middleweight crown
Had no idea what kinda sh*t was about to go down
When a cop pulled him over to the side of the road
Just like the time before and the time before that.
In Paterson that’s just the way things go.
If you’re black you might as well not show up on the street
’less you wanna draw the heat.

Alfred Bello had a partner and he had a rap for the cops.
Him and Arthur Dexter Bradley were just out prowlin’ around
He said, I saw two men runnin’ out, they looked like middleweights
They jumped into a white car with out-of-state plates.
And Miss Patty Valentine just nodded her head.
Cop said, wait a minute, boys, this one’s not dead
So they took him to the infirmary
And though this man could hardly see
They told him that he could identify the guilty men.

Four in the mornin’ and they haul Rubin in,
Take him to the hospital and they bring him upstairs.
The wounded man looks up through his one dyin’ eye
Says, wha’d you bring him in here for? he ain’t the guy!
Yes, here’s the story of The Hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin’ that he never done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
    The champion of the world.

Four months later, the ghettos are in flame,
Rubin’s in South America, fightin’ for his name
While Arthur Dexter Bradley’s still in the robbery game
And the cops are puttin’ the screws to him, lookin’ for somebody to
    blame.
Remember that murder that happened in a bar?
Remember you said you saw the getaway car?
You think you’d like to play ball with the law?
Think it might-a been that fighter that you saw runnin’ that night?
Don’t forget that you are white!

Arthur Dexter Bradley said, I’m really not sure.
Cops said, a poor boy like you could use a break
We got you for the motel job and we’re talkin’ to your friend Bello
Now you don’t wanta have to go back to jail, be a nice fellow.
You’ll be doin’ society a favor.
That sonofab*tch is brave and gettin’ braver.
We want to put his ass in stir
We want to pin this triple murder on him
    He ain’t no gentleman jim.

Rubin could take a man out with just one punch
But he never did like to talk about it all that much.
It’s my work, he’d say, and I do it for pay
And when it’s over I’d just as soon go on my way
    Up to some paradise
Where the trout streams flow and the air is nice
And ride a horse along a trail.
But then they took him to the jailhouse
Where they try to turn a man into a mouse.

All of Rubin’s cards were marked in advance
The trial was a pig-circus, he never had a chance.
The judge made Rubin’s witnesses drunkards from the slums
To the white folks who watched he was a revolutionary bum
And to the black folks he was just a crazy nigger.
No one doubted that he pulled the trigger.
And though they could not produce the gun,
The D.A. said he was the one who did the deed
    And the all-white jury agreed.

    Rubin Carter was falsely tried.
The crime was murder one, guess who testified?
Bello and Bradley and they both boldly lied
And the newspapers, they all went along for the ride.
How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fool’s hand?
    To see him obviously framed
Couldn’t help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land
    Where justice is a game.

Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise
While Rubin sits like Buddha in a ten-foot cell
An innocent man in a living hell.
That’s the story of The Hurricane,
But it won’t be over till they clear his name
And give him back the time he’s done.
Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been
    The champion of the world.

Its been a long road, getting from there to here.
Its been a long time, but my time is finally near.
And I can feel the change in the wind right now. Nothings in my way.
And theyre not gonna hold me down no more, no they’re not gonna hold me down.

Cause Ive got faith of the heart.
Im going where my heart will take me.
Ive got faith to believe. I can do anything.
Ive got strength of the soul. And no ones gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. Ive got faith, faith of the heart.

Its been a long night. Trying to find my way.
Been through the darkness. Now I finally have my day.
And I will see my dream come alive at last. I will touch the sky.
And theyre not gonna hold me down no more, no they’re not gonna change my mind.

Cause Ive got faith of the heart.
Im going where my heart will take me.
Ive got faith to believe. I can do anything.
Ive got strength of the soul. And no ones gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. Ive got faith, faith of the heart.

Ive known the wind so cold, Ive seen the darkest days.
But now the winds I feel, are only winds of change.
Ive been through the fire and Ive been through the rain.
    But Ill be fine …

Cause Ive got faith of the heart.
Im going where my heart will take me.
Ive got faith to believe. I can do anything.
Ive got strength of the soul. And no ones gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. Ive got faith, faith of the heart.

Cause Ive got faith of the heart.
Im going where my heart will take me.
Ive got faith to believe. I can do anything.
Ive got strength of the soul. And no ones gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. Ive got faith, faith of the heart.
