The Moors murders were terrible, so was what happened to a little girl in Portugal and the family in Austria… and what about all those children whose bones are still being dug up in an old building on Jersey.

The outpourings of grief and outrage on this thread are simply pale reflections of the real thing.

of course they are mimsey. thing is time and time again it has been said that we cant greive the whole world, which of course is true. no one unless they have expeirienced the pain of parents who lost children for what ever reason, let alone through cruelty and murder.

I think that the expression ‘any mother would’ actually is just stating for those of us who are mothers feel horrified, scared, sad etc…..

the thing is with these story’s we all to a certain extent feel uncomfortable, now whether or not its the horror of the cruelty to the children concerned or our own subconcious just being grateful, and yet feeling guilty for that, that our own children are safe.

the jokes start, of course they do, I am the worlds worse at jumping down peoples throats wth a sense of outrage because i of some tasteless joke, and yet, believe it or not, i do understand the joking, we cant as i have been toldmany times sit consumed with sorrow about every story we are hearing these days. that doesnt of course stop most of us feelingg some ‘sadness’ …… we are cocooned in our own lives and our own lives quite rightly so, we all at some time or another discuss stuff we are uncomfortable with, and i think many of us have steered away from a particularly sensative issue because it makes us feel uncomfortable.

I think I have learned it takes all sorts, we all have our different ways of coping and of course we are all different…………… tfft ay??

funny really when we hear news like this, what can we really do? many of the well worn words such as……hang em,,,,,,, oh thats terrible, omg god how could they do this? fades into to time, and the real pain can only be felt, as you quite rightly said, by the people who are closest to the ‘victims’ :(

Bat,,,,,I can’t think about the Lesley Ann Downey tape without it affecting my heart. Any mother would feel the same. They didn’t just kill thier victims, they tortured them, in the most horrendous way.

Children, what had those children done in their short lives, to deserve their end. Nothing, absolutely nothing.

The likes of Lord Longford, should have been incarcerated with them!! and anyone else who felt the need to defend them, say they’d changed, well her anyway,,,,,,so what!! All her bullsh@t about she didnt know what she was doing, boIIocks!! she knew and she enjoyed it,,,,,,,,sick, evil, bastads, pair of them.

I save my sympathy, for those who deserve it

Cas, you say that ‘any mother would feel the same’ when quite patently, that is not true. Many children, on a daily basis are brutalised and neglected by mothers who couldn’t care less whether or not their progeny live or die.
I am not a mother, but I AM a decent, just and sentient human being who feels the anguish of inflicted depravity and despair as fully as any other decent, just and sentient human being, and probably a lot more than many.
To continue harping on about children not deserving cruel deaths is stating the bleeding obvious. Point made.

Very true Esme, and I absolutely agree with you, not ALL mothers. Thankfully, a minority, in the scheme of things
