Whilst I admire people who have the courage to stand by their convictions, it seems so sad that a young life that could possibly have been saved has been needlessly lost.

no way !
20 May, 2010 at 12:16 pm #440821They should consider the effect on Doctors, Nurses etc who aren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses. It can’t be easy to know you could have saved someone but your hands were tied.
God forbids eating meat without first draining the blood. Many JWs have needlessly died because the governing body considers blood transfusions to be “eating blood.”
Clearly a transfusion is NOT eating and this has cost this young boy’s life
21 May, 2010 at 4:56 pm #440822I think Pete, that the JWs also feel that when they get a blood transfusion it transfers part of the soul of the one it came from . Im not sure, but i think thats the case
21 May, 2010 at 5:15 pm #440823They should feel their God gave man a brain, and man discovered blood transfusions to save life, which is supposed to be sacrosanct i thought
22 May, 2010 at 12:02 am #440824Surely a man has the right to keep whatever god or gods he chooses. Who are you to tell them what they should feel? What right do you have to hand down your religious dogma?
Good on the lad for sticking to his principles in the face of death, I say. What a very brave young man.
22 May, 2010 at 7:55 am #440825I had to have a blood transfusion some weeks ago now. And although I am a donor myself and receiving isn’t against my religion either, I have had some…inner turmoil with the situaton. I can’t quite explain on here how I feel, but it’s been wierd. Like I feel contaminated but that is a very strong word but feelings along those lines. I spoke to my brother who I’m very close to about it and he said its probaly because I am the type of person who prefers to help others and not take help, that that maybe the underlying issues I am having. He also suggested I see shrink
When I was having the transfusion I was also reading everything on the blood bags to see if the persons name or any clues would be on the blood!
So, although I find it very strange JW’s put life/death before blood transfusions, I can now kind of understand if they have been bought up thinking it is wrong as to why they would not contemplate transfusions.22 May, 2010 at 8:11 am #440826He also suggested I see shrink
Stupidity doesnt run in the family then i see…
