How does that work with Evolution and The Big Bang? Does religious doctrine have more weight than Scientific? What happens when you have to choose between Evolution and Adam and Eve? then what? What happens when you have to choose between The Big Bang of 13.8 billion years ago, and the Biblical creationism of a few thousand years ago? Please don’t let religion get in the way of a good education x
How does Christianity NOT work with the big Bang and evolution???
In the 1950s, when there was a serious debate about whether the cosmos had been created by a Big bang or whether the cosmos was in a Steady State, the Pope argued for teh big Bang because it was consistent with Christianity, whereas the Steady State theory was an atheist theory.
Steady State was disproved in the 1960s.
Like that bigot Dawkins, you assume that all Christians are creationists.
News for you.
They ain’t.
18 December, 2017 at 12:14 am #1082823Norfolk, the Klan is not an 18th Century outfit. they still exist. They still see themselves as Christian.
In Northern Ireland, where Jayda Francen (the deputy leader of the far-right Britain First group lauded by you and advertised by alfie) has just been arrested for trying to wind up anti-Islamic sentiment, people were using Christianity to kill one another (often in the most barbarous way – eg the Shankill Butchers) until very recently. I remember Roman Catholic priests sprinkling Holy Water on the US planes carrying napalm to burn innocent Vietnamese civilians and lay a carpet of bombs on the countryside whihc is still killing and maiming people as they go about their daily work years after the Americans were thrown out.
I keep repeating..Christianity has never killed anyone. It’s the way people interpret Christianity which leads to killing. you keep ignoring this basic point.
It’s the same with Islam, a religion which doesn’t attract me and is more militant in its doctrine (not its practice). Radical jihadis interpret Islam in the way you interpret it; most interpret it differently. If they did. we would all be in trouble.
As Ms k has rightly pointed out (and her point ignored) most people don’t see their religion in such strict doctrinal terms.

18 December, 2017 at 12:21 am #1082825“you daft bugga”, said Guz Khan, to one far-Right leader railing about all Muslims being terrorists.
It[‘s part of a brilliant sitcom where Khan plays 28 year-old Moheem who is trying to raise his sister, look after two incompetent mates, and be a good Muslim; all while being pestered by a cop who’s convinced he’s a terrorist, or at least up to something.
“You’re getting yourself in knots, you daft bugga”, said Mr Khan to the far-Right leader, “I know plenty of Muslims and I can’t get them to commit to what time they’re going to nando’s, let alone commit acts of terrorism”.

I assume no such thing. You are the one making assumptions about me.
Assumptions are the mother of all f**k ups
News for you.
News for me? Are you being patronising? Why do you assume I don’t know this? If you know this when why can’t I know it too? Or are you the only person privvy to this information?
you assume that all Christians are creationists. News for you. They ain’t.
I know. I could have told you this.
What about the many millions of Christians and Muslims that are creationists? have you conveniently forgotten about those? What would they tell their children? Adam and Eve myths?
18 December, 2017 at 2:44 am #1082837I think there is a lot of learning in the bible.
Such as ?
What I have learnt from the bible is :
“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

18 December, 2017 at 6:56 am #1082850How does Christianity NOT work with the big Bang and evolution???
What a stupid question. Have you never heard of Adam and Eve? or God created the world in 6 days?
Is it my turn to be patronising towards you now as you seem dumb enough to not know and have to ask such a silly question?
As we both rightly point out, not all Christians believe in creationism, BUT.. many many millions do, as well as Muslims. Possibly billions rather than millions.
“Today, 4 in 10 adults in America believe that humans have existed in our present form since the beginning of time, and in many religious groups, that number is even higher. This is woeful.”
“Only a minority of Americans fully accept evolution through natural selection. Roughly six-in-ten U.S. adults (62%) say humans have evolved over time, according to data from Pew Research Center’s Religious Landscape Study. But only a little more than half of them (33% of all Americans) express the belief that humans and other living things evolved solely due to natural processes. A quarter of U.S. adults (25%) say evolution was guided by a supreme being. The same survey found that 34% of Americans reject evolution entirely, saying humans and other living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time.”
“There are religious sects and denominations in several countries for whom the theory of evolution is in conflict with creationism that is central to their dogma, and who therefore reject it: in the United States, South Africa, India, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, and Brazil, with smaller followings in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan, Italy, Germany, Israel,”
“Compared with the U.S., even larger percentages of people in many other countries reject evolution. For example, in Latin America, roughly four-in-ten or more residents of several countries – including Ecuador, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic – say humans and other living things have always existed in their present form. This is true even though the official teachings of Catholicism, which is the majority religion in the region, do not reject evolution. Meanwhile, Muslims in many nations are divided on the topic, although majorities of Muslims in countries such as Afghanistan, Indonesia and Iraq reject evolution.”
This is millions and millions of people, NOT getting Evolution and the Big Bang to work with their Christianity and religions.
I hope this answers your very silly question
As you were x

18 December, 2017 at 8:55 am #1082863for all people disbelieving in god
the bible was not written by god or his son your going off a book written by peoples versions of the man they met
so i challenge all of you to write a book 1005 authentic about every conversation you’ve had with a person you’ve met
so once again god has never claimed to punish anyone as hes never revealed himself1 member liked this post.
