ok now here is where i have to disagree, flirting can in a way be quite selfless as people like to be liked and admired so flirting with someone can make that person feel good about themselves as long as it is only that it can be a way of being charming nothing more.
can make the other person feel good yeah, but if someone is in a relationship where they claim they’re madly deeply in love then why are they flirting. People dont flirt to make the other person feel good at least not with strangers
22 March, 2010 at 12:22 am #435899Does not having trust end a relationship? what if you chose to start again, try and rebuild the trust… which is what the post is orginally about really, forgiving and forgetting.

So if someone was being told by their friends that their partner is a terrible flirt they’re always doing it they could just say “oh thats what they’re like it’s harmless” and not have any doubt
Well yes obv you would get doubt, but what if you believed they mean no harm by it…. Someone once said to me “I have a flirty personality”… you cant change people’s personalities
All i’m saying is if someone says they really love someone else and the other person is affected by the flirting then it shouldn’t be hard to stop.

What if they don’t stop, but you believe they truly love you?

I dont think you ever can forget or ever should really, but you have to forgive otherwise you’re sort of bearing a grudge and that’s like poisoning yourself and waiting for the other person to die, and you’ll never rebuild that trust
22 March, 2010 at 12:26 am #435903There are different types of flirting.
I flirt, so does my partner, but it’s the kind of flirting that is charming, makes others feel good about themselves, not a sexual kind of flirting.
I think if it’s sexual flirting and it’s becoming a problem, then it’s time for both parties to sit down and talk about their relationship. Essentially it comes down to trust and respect.
22 March, 2010 at 12:28 am #435904So essentially jen and pete, you’re both saying if you don’t have trust, you don’t have much of a relationship?
22 March, 2010 at 12:29 am #435905yeah i guess it’s how you define flirting, i’m talking about indicating a romantic or sexual interest towards someone else

dont think you have one at all cause one or the other is always wondering
22 March, 2010 at 12:30 am #435907Yep, in a nutshell. Trust and respect are the core foundations of any relationship, if you don’t have them then your relationship is on a shaky foundation and likely to topple over at any moment.
