This whole ‘respect the ref’ will only be a success if it works both ways. I think in many instances refs are too card happy and don’t display enough common sense. Surely a decision based on common sense would earn more respect from players, managers and fans than a display of authority that in some cases isn’t needed for anything other than show.
Perhaps if the players stopped cheating it would make things easier for the poor refsj
