Aww i loved Nanny Macfee. I am reading No One Left to Tell by Karen Rose. For anyone who hasnt heard of her, she writes crime fiction, there IS the romantic element, which is the part of the books which are very fomulaic, you know who is going to get together instantly, you just know its a matter of when not if. BUT, ignore that and focus on the thriller element and her books are good.

Ive not long finished a book called Eye for an Eye by Frank Muir, another thriller which was really good, it is about a serial killer who is killing abusive men. Set in my hometown, which is probably why it appealed haha.

My favourite series of books is the Alex cross books by James Patterson i usually give away books but these stay pride of place on my bookshelf, they are sort of crime thriller books.

To pass a lazy sunday you cant fail with Martina Cole,

    The Fear Index Robert Harris

Dr Alex Hoffman is a mathematical genius lured from a research career at CERN to make billions developing algorithms as a partner at a Geneva-based hedge fund. Hoffman’s cutting-edge programme, VIXAL, makes market trades by analysing the frequency of fear-related language across the media. The night before Hoffman unveils the software’s next evolution to investors, an intruder disturbs him at his mansion, knocking him unconscious before escaping. As Hoffman becomes convinced he is being persecuted by mysterious foes, both his personal and professional lives begin to unravel.
Almost insidiously up-to-the-minute, The Fear Index includes riots against austerity measures in Greece as one variable that VIXAL incorporates into its unfathomably vast calculations. Turning instant profits out of disaster and hysteria, the autonomous programme operates like the ultimate trader: daring, rapacious and utterly amoral.

A different but interesting contemporary thriller, i enjoyed it.

    Those In Peril
    Wilbur Smith

Hazel Bannock is the heir to the Bannock Oil Corp, one of the major oil producers with global reach. While cruising in the Indian Ocean, Hazel’s private yacht is hijacked by African pirates. Hazel is not on board at the time, but her nineteen year old daughter, Cayla, is kidnapped and held to ransom. The pirates demand a crippling twenty billion dollar ransom for her release. Complicated political and diplomatic considerations render the civilized major powers incapable of intervening.

When Hazel is given evidence of the horrific torture which Cayla is being subjected to, she calls on Hector Cross to help her rescue her daughter. Hector is the owner and operator of Cross Bow Security, the company which is contracted to Bannock Oil to provide all their security. He is a formidable fighting man. Between them Hazel and Hector are determined to take the law into their own hands.

An action thriller with some brutal descriptions and actions, to romance and drama.
    Above average read, enjoyable

Eva, have you tried The Women’s Murder Club series By James Patterson? They are just as good as the Alex Cross series
