Just read Lost Innocence by Susan Lewis it was OK definitely a light read… if you like a good yarn… its good.
If you like historical books CJ Sansoms Mathew Shardlake Trilogy is wonderful. I loved Sovereign in particular as it was based around York. I recognised the place names which was interesting as the novel follows Henry VIII’s royal progress which was all based on fact.

Personally, I’m not keen on historical romances and the like, however, my mother swears on Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel – about Oliver Cromwell – maybe if you haven’t already read it?!
Yeah, I’ve read some of Susan Lewis’ books – Out of The Shadows, The Mill House and Missing (think I have some others, can’t remember!) – quite good easy reads – what I call my Karma Karma books!

1 November, 2011 at 8:23 pm #460415I’m not surprised – I googled it! I think I would read it if I came across it.
I buy second-hand books from a market stall – not bad especially in the holiday seasons – normally only read by one person on holiday – you buy them for between 2 and 3 euros – and get 80 cents on return, bargain! :D The owners also look out for books if you ask them to, which is very kind. Don’t know where you get your books from – but, try play.com – it is the same as Amazon, but, NO postage & packaging! Worth a look anyway.
I’m going to finish mine either tonight or tomorrow – wow what a read – I think it is aimed for a woman/mother to read, but if you are a man and can get past the first couple of chapters which involves childbirth, it really is a riveting reading – makes ‘one’ extremely introspective! I have to say, not many books reduce me to tears!
6 November, 2011 at 3:54 pm #460416Sadly a lack of decent second hand bookshops in my area, but i will have a look at that site ty x
My weekends are full of work and more work but i will keep weeping my way through the book.
6 November, 2011 at 10:05 pm #460417I have a second hand bookshop :)
Jodi Piclout writes heart wrenchingly well. I loved 19 minutes, think all of her books are so thought provoking.
I love all kinds of books, am reading a lot of thrillers at the moment, Mark Billingham and Peter James are good, and I have to say Dick Francis novels, although mostly always set within the horseracing world, are really good too.
I remember reading the books by Doreen Tovey, Cats in the belfry and the like about her siamese cats, they were hysterically funny, I must revisit those.
I am on a mission to read every single book in my shop :)

ooooooo I would love to have your job, trouble is I would hate to sell them after I had read them, so not sure I would make a profit!
I like Peter James and Richard Frances too, not read any of Mark Billingham’s so will keep a look out for him, also for Doreen Tovey – will let you know what I think when/if I find any!
I have just read “A Quiet Belief In Angels” by R J Ellory – not sure whether to recommend it or not – very clever and descriptive thriller, but just when you think oh I dunno this is a bit wearysome, twists occur, and bam you’re back hooked! Well, it happened to me twice in the book. He is british, but you would never know it from his writing, you would think he has gotta be US!!!
Welcome to ‘the club’! :D
8 November, 2011 at 12:05 pm #460419anc i read a quiet belief in angels a few years back and loved it altho the subject matter is harrowing ellorys writing is beautiful and haunting i couldnt put it down a thriller maybe but it doesnt read like your normal unforgettable thirller.
another good read is Room By Emma Donoghue

ooooo I’ll put that one down on my list too – I’ll ask Janet and her husband who run the bookstall in the market on Thursday (another new author for me to try!).
Douglas Kennedy is good too! Anyone read ‘The Girl on the Fifth’? as I would like to know your reactions to the ending, and to the ending of ‘Engleby’ by Sebastian Faulks?! – in pm, so as not to give it away to others who haven’t read them plse? x
9 November, 2011 at 1:34 pm #460421Had to have a breather after reading the story of paul, but what an inspiration his mother was, how i admire some people.Back on track now but still slow going, you would of probably read war and peace twice before i finish.
