3 August, 2012 at 9:32 pm #506065There was me thinking we were just discussing the poster campaign and not rape in general…
3 August, 2012 at 9:32 pm #506066I totally agree ruby… and panda I didnt suggest any of the stuff you said.
3 August, 2012 at 9:33 pm #506067I don’t think anyone has suggested the things that panda has said.

Maybe not suggest but certainly implied it. That’s how I read it, anyway.

Well you read it wrongly then
3 August, 2012 at 9:37 pm #506070Don’t really think the poster needs an apology, the poster isn’t pointing fingers or proportioning blame, merely trying to make people aware of the threat of rape, and if the poster makes one girl make a different decision, of perhaps not to quickly walk home alone, or not take that short cut etc and save her from being in a position that a rape can occur all the good.

There were two posters in this campaign;
The one with the women seem to suggest to me that you can only get raped if you go out and get drunk which we all know is a load of rubbish.
3 August, 2012 at 9:45 pm #506072the poster in question mentions regretful sex or rape, no one can deny that many women have got so druk they have consented to sex that they have regretted the next morning, so i still don’t think the poster needs an apology, in actual fact the fact itself this poster has caused controversy will also help raise awareness so whether people are affronted by it or not who cares if it saves someone

I understand what Jenn means…. Im always amazed if I drive through Leeds late at night it might be freezing cold but some girls are in bikini tops and short skirts… like jen jen said in an earlier post we take personal responsibility in other areas… against burglars muggers pick pockets etc…. it makes sense to take responsibility and not to dress so provocatively….
Sure….it should not be necessary but bad things happen… we all know that.
Ok but what about @ the beach or swimming pool?
Well thats a whole different environment … people dont go there to drink either and when they leave they dress appropriately… well sometimes they do :D
Hmmm I don’t think I read it wrong. You definately associate rape with alcohol and clothing.
