So what should they do instead? Barricade themselves and their families in their homes, ignore all the knocking at the door, keep the curtains closed against the prying telephoto lenses, not answer the phone? Let everyone else sell their stories based on gossip and hearsay while they hide from the world?
Or there’s the other way, sell your story to one newspaper only, who will whisk you and your family off to a hotel and stop anyone else talking to you until they’ve got everything they want out of you, then when you’re no more use to them cast you aside as they pursue the next story, leaving you still in the glare of the media spotlight with a pitifully low cheque in your hand while they’ve made a fortune off your back.
You pays your money you makes your choices.

Yeah, I actually feel for his family that have been left behind. In this case and the Derek Bird case. The family have been left behind having to deal with what happened, and it must be very hard for them.
In this case though his brother hadnt seem for 15 years or 20 years, so I really dont get his tears. Maybe he should have looked him whilst he was alive.the ppl of west cumbria including the families of the victims of bird have rallied round birds family and understand thier suffering

I went to school with Raoul, I posted something on facebook in my old school bit and I had a Daily Mirror reporter contact me trying to dig up dirt about Raoul’s past…. I ignored it. I think the media should now let the story subside.
16 July, 2010 at 8:58 am #443520And for the record…
he was a normal kid, just like any other…
the photo of him in a dress etc… cross dresser… bull****!! I have photos of my bro in law in my clothes and my sisters make up when we were all drunk and messing about… that photo is just media sensationalism and his ex is just cashing in on the circus.
I think the whole scenario is a tragedy, and it is easy to critise someones personal life when they are not here to defend themselves. I do not condone the crimes he committed, to take a life is wrong without a doubt… but something must have lead him to this. We are in no postion to judge, we cannot believe the media hype, they are just out to sell papers and any cost. I feel for Angus (who was in my brothers class at school too), because not only has he got to come to terms with his loss and the actions of his brother, some of the public are now labelling him a bad guy… these people disgust me. Poor man.

Why shouldn’t his ex be “cashing in”? After the stuff she encountered daily because of that man then surely she deserves something good in her life now to keep her going, and to provide for her and her kids future’s. I know I certainly would welcome some extra cash, esp if it meant sharing her story about violence and abuse, and letting people know that it can and does happen.

The point is Cass, we only have her word that these things happened to her!

Wasn’t there a phone convo where he admitted it?
