First 5 words are probably accurate.
Maybe Im wearing my Green Tinted Glasses but I remember Celtic’s Final as a pulsating, ding dong feast on a warm night, a great advert for attacking Football, even though we lost.
How about this Final? Is Smiff going to abandon this dire Footy and put on a show for the watching millions? More chance of Kirk Broadfoot winning Player of the Year I suspect.
I honestly hope he does though John.

I reckon the Gers will be right up for this final, its theirs to lose. They have nowt to hold em back.
If football were based on great performances it would be great but it aint.
I should know.

That is a point I do go along with. Is he going to opt for the tried and trusted method and hope that it pays off (and with their luck, there’s every chance it can) or does he just enjoy the occasion?
It’s been a long time since the Cup Winners Cup, it could be another long wait for another game like this.

As I said if every team did this Football would be the 20th most watched Sport in the Country. Sky and Sentanta would withdraw their money, and Football would go bust.
Im not just having a go at Rangers because they are Rangers. I thought the same of Greece in Euro 2004 and every other team who use this tactic.
No ones asking a totally limited Rangers side to go gung-ho, but surely a balance has to be struck. Rangers fans themelves will eventually turn against it mark my words.
2 May, 2008 at 9:45 pm #317729I reckon we’ll see the same tactics next season, but he should have a bit of money to spend in the summer. If he can keep McGregor and Cuellar then he doesn’t need to worry much about the defense, but I reckon he’ll bring in some flair players.
I’m sure he’d love to have a bit of balance, but he doesn’t have the resources at his disposal.

What Im worried about is that people will actually associate Rangers tactics with Scottish Football. At a time when our National Team is coming out of a long slumber people might look at Rangers and think that that’s how Scottish team’s play.
gets them to a european final im sure that scottish fans wont mind as it only raises the profile of their league.
Well done rangers!
7 May, 2008 at 3:42 pm #317731god i must admit it has been like watchin paint dry at times… but that last penelty shoot oot i was bitin me nails… and since then all the celtic bhoys i know, have complained aboot Rangers gettin their… well atleast they ARE in Final … giving the Scottish Teams another platform, lets hope they manage to give a guid performance on the nite and win…
8 May, 2008 at 1:52 pm #317732We’ve seen a more attacking 442 formation from Rangers in the last two games and while it’s been easier on the eye it’s not really been that much more effective. If Walter plays it at the weekend, I reckon he just might take the chance in Manchester.

No chance of that sort of attacking nonsense from Smiff in Manchester.
The old defensive routine 9 men behind the ball, trying to grab a goal on the break and having the lone striker do more running than a fat bloke trying to make the Chippy before closing time.
Get odds on 0-0 after 90 mins, and get every penny you have on it.
13 May, 2008 at 5:01 pm #31773411-5 on a draw after 90 mins. Well worth a flutter guys.
