You’re wrong, the Euro Champions League purely by it’s name is not a knock out cup or misnomer. It has evolved from the knock out cup into a World Cup style championship. You win a couple of league’s before going into a knock out. It’s the decathlon of club football. It takes the best of a league situation and a knock out situation. For sure it was done to gain more revenue, but that is what it is now. The European Cup was a straight knockout between the league champions of Europe. The European Champions League is a marathon to see who is the kings of the dual challenge. Don’t ever mix it up with the old format.

Maybe it could be a good thing that Rangers face this problem. They have a bigoted, hooligan element in their support. It might be a small minority, but it’s growing, and they havent done enough to try to rid of themselves of it.

Not for one moment do I think that Celtic fans are Angels. We have these elements as well, as do most clubs, but we do seem to be able to Police it better ourselves, and to be frank Celtic have been In Manchester and other places countless times without a hint of trouble.

The funny thing is that these same morons from last night will stick a Kilt on and go to Scotland games, and not dream of causing any trouble. Very strange.

It’s a social problem though, remember the fans who caused the first flare up were the ones who didn’t have tickets and for all we know they might even be banned from going to Rangers games. From that perspective, it’s difficult to control – they can ban people but they can’t stop them travelling.

Unless they learn to be responsible, I don’t see how the club can do any more than what they’re trying to do at the moment. True point about international level and that’s something I just don’t get.

well “champions” and “league” – its a double misnomer isn’t it ? for the reasons sword states too. Of course its a cup competition in essence – almost assured qualification for the same names from the groups then strictly knock-out all the way

in similar fashion the old european cup, for the big clubs, would really only start at the quarter-finals and so comprised three meaningful ties.

neither method shows who the best club in europe is

It no longer presumes the champions of respective leagues, it presumes a champion of Europe, again, no misnomer.

All I can say is remember Real Football Factories, all are as bad as each other, and the few ruin it for the majority.

I have no idea what you are on about Sharon, I was replying to John’s post, I never read yours. You’re a girl your comments don’t exist in football.

 yer right, up yours, part timer.

I wouldn’t cast stones Sharon. Wearing the shirt must make you very proud, but if you get on the Piccadilly to Gillespie Road once or twice a decade you’ll almost believe you support a London team. I’ll happily live with ‘part timer’… thats usually the cry of ‘dedicated’ fans of lesser teams elsewhere huh?

You threw the stone, disrespecting my sex and knowledge.

I had more than a personal interest in the events of yesterday. My family are lifelong rangers fans. My father was there with 15 friends/family, some from here some from up the road. I watched the press conference to make my own judgments on what had happened

Your showing your age disrespecting women now in the name of the beautiful game.

You must actually enjoy making enemies… it seems to come real easy for you huh?

    And you’re showing your immaturety.
