The footage is disturbing, sickening and vile.
Been a shocking few days for Scottish Football, and every last one of these Animals should be hunted down by Rangers and the Police.
15 May, 2008 at 9:12 pm #317776Couldn’t agree more. Like I said, I work with CCTV and have seen things like that first hand and it’s even more sickening(and quite frightening) to watch when you don’t know what the outcome is going to be.
I have a feeling that they’ll probably try and pin the blame on Manchester in some way, neanderthals like that never take responsibility for their actions. Once again, the minority have made themselves heard.
15 May, 2008 at 9:43 pm #317777Glad you’ve seen that for what it is John. A bunch of mindless thugs that really have nothing to do with football. I’ll be down the Fulham Road next week to watch Chelsea and hope to God there isn’t the same reaction. There are thugs in every club in the country and they do spoil it for the majority. I just heard Manchester council isn’t putting on city centre screens next Wednesday. Rangers thugs (all be it a few) have left a scar on the city and England. I can’t see the England v Scotland matches being resumed any time soon.
15 May, 2008 at 10:03 pm #317778I may be guilty of having blue tinted glasses from time to time and I do get a bit p***sed off when people tarnish not just every fan but the entire country by certain events but there’s no way that can be condoned. I read that about the big screens next week as well, maybe they’re concerned about the links between Rangers & Chelsea or maybe they’ve just decided ‘never again’ and who could blame them? In any case it’s not just their own club and supporters that have a right to be dissapointed.
But I am still curious about the stabbing incident, Russian football violence is at the extreme end of the spectrum so it’s a bit naive to suggest that it couldn’t have been a rival fan but going by the footage we’ve all witnessed, it would also be naive to suggest that it definetely wasn’t a Rangers ‘fan’ Just to clarify – I am not dismissing it but I think judgement should be reserved until if and when the facts come out.
Either way, the wrong folk are going to be the ones painted in a bad light.
15 May, 2008 at 10:05 pm #317779Agreed (for a change)
15 May, 2008 at 10:09 pm #317780Must be this summer weather – it always has an affect on me.
15 May, 2008 at 10:10 pm #317781No, they have not decided never again. I watched the press conference this morning. If you had read my post either of you I said that it has been decided it is too soon for the business’s that put up with it all yesterday to agree to it so soon.
Yes a lot of businesses made money yesterday, but lots had to close, and lots sustained damage too.
They have not ruled anything out for the future and hope to welcome people again.
On the whole the city of Manchester should be admired as should the majority of fans who had a great day, and were made welcome.
The rioters will receive what is coming to them. I abhor people who riot in the name of football, but its hardly a new thing.
And, as I said before, it really could have been a whole lot worse.
15 May, 2008 at 10:16 pm #317782I have no idea what you are on about Sharon, I was replying to John’s post, I never read yours. You’re a girl your comments don’t exist in football.
15 May, 2008 at 10:21 pm #317783True, but there’s always an official & an unofficial line to these things. They’re hardly going to come out and say ‘We don’t want the hooligan elements of Rangers & Chelsea meeting up and running riot in packs’ but that surely must have came into the thinking pattern at some point.
First thing that came to my mind when I saw it on Sky Sports News.
15 May, 2008 at 10:23 pm #317784this UEFA fingycup needs to be integrated with the Champions League in a more positive way, but the cartel of big clubs won’t be suggesting that anytime soon. Maybe a promotion relegation format into the following season.
and having to play these thursday night games all season – when a club hasn’t got the financial clout to have its squad cover the domestic game as well on the sunday – I dunno but it seems like a good way of sabotaging a lot of cl dreams.
the champions League is a misnomer anyway for what is essentially a knock-out cup competition. It all needs sorting out and some of those readies should be shared around, but I guess we have to live in the world as it is.
(….feeling sorry for the majority of true rangers fans)
