I agree that Novo should have played, I expected his name to be one of the first on the team sheet but unless he went 442 which has been very shaky for us this season (look at the Dundee United games) then there was no chance. Davis is a difficult man to drop in that position.

I watched the game with my dad and we both thought that, if he was playing a five man midfield, Dailly would be playing the holding role ahead of Hemdani. But hindsight is a wonderful thing. Walter’s bound to look at this campaign as something he can realistically hope to build on next season. And I reckon he’ll have more depth next year, having Burke, Naismith and Beasley out injured long term hasn’t helped so with a few new faces he’s bound to be confident. His tactics often baffle me and tonight was unfortunately the night when it didn’t pay off.

Like I said, I’m still happy that I got to see my team in a european final.

To be fair Rangers look Ok when they had to attack and chase the game.

They also had a go at Parkhead the other week, and almost nabbed it.

I think they had the players to do this tonight John. I think the odds of winning having a go would have been lower than the odds of sitting back, given that their luck in that regard was bound to run out sooner or later.

All this fuss about a cup designed to give losers a chance to show how bad they are.

Lets hope we see a classic in the Big Ear Cup Final.

I think they were good enough too, but Walter had to decide whether to throw caution to the wind or go with what works. Can’t really blame the man for going with what he felt was his best option.

We did look capable of scoring, there were one or two that I couldn’t believe were kept out but a bolder approach at 1-0 and it could have been so different. But he’ll learn from it and press on.

Just seen some of the footage from the city centre last night and it’s appaling. I work with CCTV and have seen some pretty sickening stuff but nothing on that level. There’s no excuse for that sort of behaviour and the actions of that couple of hundred or so will be what our reputation is based on and what the trip will be remembered for.

There were 100,000 in Manchester, so the vast majority were well behaved but that minority has only served to tarnish an already blotted reputation even more. Sounds all too familiar. Well done, you’ve done your club proud.

Sounds now like it was closer to 150,000. My dad’s on the M6 now with his friends. They were all fine, had a great day and were dissapointed at the result. They did all lose each other at a few points in the day which was always going to happen, but he said all in all apart from the result one of the best days he has ever had, and I think the same goes for the majority.

Uefa will love this, they hate British teams and will use this to punish all good football fans and their teams, starting with next week, they will not now be having 8 screens up as planned for the proper Euro cup. I can understand from the point of view of businesses that had to close etc, but its a real shame for the vast majority of excellently behaved fans.

These things are so easily caught up in, and I actually think it could have been a whole lot worse considering the numbers. The police were right to be heavy handed, especially against all the drunk chavs who have probably never left Glasgow before… stupid idiots.

For once, I agree with the heavy handed approach – we’ve seen it a few times recently and sometimes I think it’s a bit OTT but not this time. Nobody wants to see innocent fans getting beaten for being in the wrong place at the wrong time but we all know where to point the finger on this occasion.

What choice did they have? Some of the images were shocking and like I said, I’ve seen similar but not a pack mentality on that scale.

    indicative of scottish scum
    tramps on tour

And English fans never cause trouble do they?

You might have a point if you weren’t so hypocritical.
