A plea for calm was made today after a knife brawl between rival gangs in a Bradford street left one man murdered and another fighting for his life in hospital. Rashid Elahi, 22, died of a stab wound following the fight in the Gaythorne Road area of West Bowling on Friday.
And last night police arrested two people in west London on suspicion of murder, a 17-year-old youth and a 26-year-old male. A 32-year-old man was still being held for questioning.
Mr Elahi was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary where he underwent surgery but was pronounced dead shortly after 3am on Saturday.
A 24-year-old man, who police have not named, last night remained in a critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit after also undergoing surgery for a knife wound.
Ward Councillor Naveeda Ikram said the entire community was shocked and horrified by the killing and she urged people to remain calm.
She said: “This is a very, very sensitive situation, the community has been absolutely devastated by what has happened. I know the family of the young man who was killed and nothing could have been more horrific.
“people are saying ‘how could this happen here, in this street?’ “What has happened is every parent’s worst nightmare; people are very worried”
It is believed that people might have been brought in from other areas to take part in the violence which took place between the Asian and black gangs. Witnesses have told that the brawl had lasted for as long as 20 minutes before the stabbings occurred. One man is reported to have been attacked with a knife in front of a three-storey terraced house in Parsonage Road which is adjacent to Gaythorne Road.
Coun Ikram said: “We are all in total shock. Such a thing has never happened in this area before and it is very painful for the whole community.
“The important thing is for everyone to remain calm.

There have been 10 race riots since Labour came to power that ive heard about, Bradford (2), Leeds, Wrexham, Peterboro, Kent, Birmingham, Burnley, Oldham, Derby, several riots involving asylum seekers at detention centres, just recently there was a race riot in a county durham prison involving rival muslim and white inmates.
Just why do people vote for people who’s policy encourages this kind of thing to happen?
Does it have to blow up (no pun intended) on a daily basis for the majority law abidding citizens to take notice?
I personally think finance wont bring this country down into any deep recession, but this kind of thing will absolutely do so at some point.
We need to be brave and either encourage non white, non English/british people to leave, or if they wont go, we’ll need segregation.

I went to Croydon on Sunday, and I was the only English person there.
I wasn’t allowed into a Wetherspoons there because my St. George badge was found to be “offensive” by the Russian.. perhaps Polish or Czech (all same to me) doorman.. (then why is he in England if he finds it offensive? Foreign kunt)
I got on the 410 to Wallington where I was the only white (English) person there, including the bus driver who was black and had an African accent.
I was walking through Croydon watching my back at every step, just expecting the gangs of blacks, Osama Bin Laden look-alikes and his ninja women to start running towards me with knives or worse, a suicide bomb.
I came back to Yorkshire yesterday and my friend thinks I’m joking when I tell him I was the only English person down there. But the depressing thing is, I’m being 100% serious. I really WAS the only English person there.
I went into Sainsbury’s for some bitter for the coach.. every single worker in there was an immigrant. All brown & black.
Went into Burger King, the till worker had a Commie accent, so again was Russian or Polish and the people in the back were brown and black.
Went into the pub (one that actually let me in), the person serving me was Indian, the doorman was black… for the 2 days I was down there, I only got to talk to another English person once I was at Victoria Coach Station coming back to Yorkshire.. full of Yorkshire people going back to Yorkshire. The coach back home only had white people on it, every one of them from Yorkshire. All of them amazed at how un-English the south is.
