I quite like Oscar Wilde. I think he was very much before his time – if only he’d been born later and alive now…

    I like this:

“I can stand brute force but brute reason is quite unbearable. There is something unfair about its use. It is hitting below the intellect.”

The irony is quite brilliant! :D

What quotes do you like and why?

“May you live as long as you want, and not want as long as you live” – no idea who wrote it but i like it.

“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” ― Marilyn Monroe
It quite close to how I am.

And seen this on a tattoo a marine had – “All gave some but some gave all”.

“For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.”
    Judy Garland

You may think you have loved and been loved, but it’s not until you feel this that you realise what true love is and something changes at the most fundamental level.

“Expect nothing of the day and you won’t be disappointed.”

From Anthony Hopkins’s bio, although he may have got it from someone else.

I find it particulary relevant in this “must have, want now” age we live in.

It reminds me of living in more simple times before “me, me me,” greed is good” and mass marketing was shoved down our throats 24/7/365.

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.
    Samuel Beckett

or from the great mind of Homer Simpson talking to bart

“You tried your best and failed miserably. The lesson is: never try.”
