Well, after a year of fighting my own demons – I’ve formally quit the BNP. I withdrew my officer status last night (I was deputy organiser for NE Derbyshire and representative/candidate for my ward [Holderness]) and stated on my FB that I’m standing down from the elections, I’m not standing for the BNP.
I’ll either go independent, or jump ship back to the tories.
Why?
I joined the BNP when I was young, and lost. I enjoy confrontation, and I love gaining a bad rep – joining Britain’s most controversial political party was the greatest wind up of all. I did it as a laugh at first.
But I went to a meeting, got involved, and actually started to enjoy the company of fellow activists, and they really enjoyed my company. I was taken under their wing and was moulded into a little flag waving Nationalist.
I’ve always loved politics, and this is the main reason I’ve quit – I want a serious career in politics. If I quit now, lay low for a while, I can jump ship to another, more serious party, and make a real difference. If, however, I stayed with the BNP, I would surely end my career before it started.
On top of that, the BNP is full of cliques, inner circles, infighting and backstabbing.
Tom for the Tories? Apppthhhhh! or perhaps UKIP?
I’m not sure what to do for May though, I may stand as an independent.
25 January, 2011 at 4:29 pm #460227I’m glad you left the BNP Tom, I have no respect for the party at all, however I think you may find the cliques and backstabbing are in most parties.. anyway whatever you decide… good luck

the tories!!29 January, 2011 at 10:57 am #460229Found your own party, Tom. That way, you are sure of the perfect blend. Also, as charismatic leader, you’ll be able to attract groupies anxious to serve your whims.
29 January, 2011 at 4:49 pm #460230Don’t give him ideas pikey!!!! I am sure that is exactly what Hitler did after he’d failed to make it in other political parties, he founded his own and tried to take over the world!
29 January, 2011 at 5:39 pm #460231I already have one in the making. The Yorkshire Freedom Party. I’ve been researching Oswald Mosley a lot lately; and his ideas on the economy.
