Question

Unless something has totally bypassed me here, Sophia quoted the hate speech someone directed at her, on this site. Abuse based on race and skin colour. An arrestable offense under current UK legislation, if it happened in the “real” world. From what I have read on this thread, objecting to the word “golliwog” in todays multicultural Britain, appears perfectly reasonable and perfectly logical based on readily available evidence. That evidence being, that if you are from the black minority community, you will not have access to the same opportunities that are readily available to “white” people, particularly the liberal class.

An example could be, that if you are a young black man, you are much more likely to be sent to prison, for exactly the same offense as a young white man with a similar background and a similar criminal record.

I do however agree with you Draculina, that people who constantly complain about racism and xenophobia and who label and then place others in a “racist” box, specifically because they voted Brexit, should moderate their own language before they make unfounded accusations of their own.

That was my point, it wasn’t the words that she said that were offensive because her intent was to quote someone else rather than to cause offense.

I object to the abuse, but I don’t see what talking about it adds to this discussion. That, and it’s what the person who sent the abuse probably wanted to happen.

And you might be wrong…maybe if Sophia kept quiet and suffered in silence the abuser would think he got one over her as she was too embarrassed to say those words publicly…..I don’t know what planet you are on Drac……….but seriously!!

Why do you think that the government being racist is lame? Surely that should be the type of racism you are most offended by. Rather than a doll.

Nobody who has said the doll is controversial has been able to explain why it is controversial. Golly barely even looks like a human, yet alone any kind of stereotype that exists about black people in ‘todays society’.
