So, it was a shite idea, people pointed it out and it got dropped? That’s terrible. I must admit, I used to enjoy the traditional Tory it was a shite idea, people pointed it out and they did it anyway to hilarious effect. That Poll Tax had me chuckling for months.

I think you’re really an undercover Labour activist, here to convince me that the government isn’t as bad as I thought it was, PB. I shall have to start calling you Campbell.

Well you say this Pikey, but the really scary thing is that at the time they floated the idea they really thought it was going to be a bit of a winner.

It was only when the whole world told them it was uttter crap that they hastily backed off.

Problem is that we are currently governed by a bunch of failed clowns who seriously believe that they can spin just about everything. They don’t seem to be able to come up with anything in the way of policies that address current, much less future, issues.

As long as one of their soft focus groups comes up with a headline grabbing idea that allows them to gain maximum publicity then they seem to be quite comfortable to carry on pissing our money down the drain on more and more failed initiatives.

Mention the utter and complete cock up called the NHS for example and all they can tell you is how much money they have spent on it and this alone seems to be the yardstick for success. Oh and of course reel out tons of meaningless statistics like a speak your weight machine.

They’ve been in power for 10 long long very long years and the best they can do is to blame their predecessors over and over again. They should try to behave honourably and simply pack up their bags and slink off into the night – and take their failed musician with them.

BTW I always thought that Alistair Campbell was excellent value for money – at least he wasn’t a totally PC social worker lookalike.
