“The Queen has visited Prince Philip in hospital, where he is being treated for a bladder infection, after Buckingham Palace said his condition had ‘improved considerably’.
Despite his improved condition, the Duke of Edinburgh is due to remain in King Edward VII Hospital in London for the next few days as a precaution, Buckingham Palace added.”
The duke will be 91 on Sunday.
I do so hope that he will get well soon.
6 June, 2012 at 7:14 pm #498385Er? Sorry is there a point to this post?
6 June, 2012 at 9:13 pm #498386Very few of the posts here have a point…shall we question them all?
6 June, 2012 at 9:58 pm #498387Well to put it bluntly, the original post in this thread is totally pointless.
I agree some others are as well but I’m not going to question them all, Jen, but don’t let me stop you.
6 June, 2012 at 10:15 pm #498388It’s ok Jen it seems the p and a is quite taken with my posts. However I see no point in hindering her delight in commenting on my postings. Let the ‘ pointer ‘ carry on with her ‘pointing’.
That’s when she’s not bamboo ing that is ….
6 June, 2012 at 10:23 pm #4983896 June, 2012 at 10:24 pm #498390P eps i, can you explain why you needed to post that about Prince Philip without pointing to the point you were trying to make, please?
A point could be, for example, the fact that he must have been feeling unwell whilst standing for so long or he feigned illness to get out of hearing Cheryl Cole “sing.”
Bamboo is a plant that panda’s eat. I haven’t looked up the urban dictionary meaning but I can guess, not that I really care.
But I stand by my point that your post was pointless.
6 June, 2012 at 11:13 pm #498391Bladder infection? Nah. I reckon he was just taking the pee. Or perhaps the sight of all those ppl fawning make him feel ill.
It did me. :D
7 June, 2012 at 8:06 pm #498392maybe he just fancied an early night………….didn’t like some of the has-beens that were trying to sing live ( and couldn’t ) ………..and decided the best place to get some peace and quiet and a decent kip was in a hospital bed …..with nurses ready to wait hand and foot when he wanted his cocoa……………lets face it how much kip would you get if there was a live gig playing outside your bedroom window?

On a more serious note …bladder infections can be quite painful although easy to treat and are common in the elderly especially when they don’t take in enough fluids or hold back from going to the loo.
It is common in older men, affecting 10 per cent of all those over the age of 80, and while painful relatively easy to treat if caught early with antibiotics.
However, according to doctors it can indicate underlying health problems which need to be investigated.
One cause for cystitis is a problem with urinating which means that the bladder does not empty properly.
This is common in pregnant women, but can also be caused by an enlarged prostate gland in men, a condition that also becomes much more common as men get older.
Cystitis in men should always be referred to a doctor for appropriate investigation and treatment.
Doctors recommend drinking at least eight glasses of water a day and taking trips to the lavatory as soon as people feel the need, rather than holding back.
Holding off going to the lavatory can exaccerbate the condition, though it is not an underlying cause.
Dr Camilleri-Ferrante, a Consultant in Public Health Medicine, said: “It is possible that fluid intake was reduced both prior to and during the parade.
“It is possible that the Duke resisted going to the lower deck in order not to miss any part of the parade.
“It is also possible that, if there is some underlying problem, this was exacerbated.”
She said it is unlikely that too long on deck was a direct cause.
“Most infection is due to a number of factors coming together, making a good opportunity for the bacteria to multiply,”
“The important thing now is for the Duke to receive optimal care so that he can make a speedy recovery.”The Telegraph.
