Cant speak for anyone else but i certainly didn’t boot anyone from rooms unless they’d done something to deserve it and usually warned before booting, and yes there were one or two who I thought arseholes but it’s about breaking whatever “rules” are set rather than any personal vendettas, or at least it should be.

Some people would want to drive me away from jc altogether, on the grounds that I am an idiot
On the other hand, if I were a guide, I might define someone else (maybe you??!!) as an idiot and obliterate them

Ok a few of the idiots I’ve booted, and no doubt Pete as well.
Subs, Montana, Tracy thong, Olly, those ones were boot on sight back in the day.
Despite what they may have thought, they didn’t get booted because I didn’t like them, they were booted because that’s what I was told to do.
There were many many more, what I called ‘minor idiots’ who received my boot,up their backsides for various reasons. Had some good times, in spite of the idiots. And if any of said idiots are reading the boards…cooeeeee.

of course, you need something to regulate and monitor, and here on the boards…..
in chat, the guides were complaining that they w ere unable to do anything because the a-holes throwing private addresses around were using some sort of device which hgave them different IP addresses

I nearly gave up (betcha glad I didn’t
)The format seems very cold…..not very user friendly unless you keep trying….I don’t find it as bad as I did in the beginning…..there also has to be interesting things to read and to post to……bit of a catch 22….if you don’t post…you wont get responses…so nothing to read
Maybe the boards have died….or maybe in a few months time when the new breed of gremlins….I mean jcers come through they will register and get this place buzzing….

doesn’t bnother me if people in chat scorn those who use the boards.
I’ve posted a huge amount on here, so I guess I attract the most scorn – pfffft!
But I have posted such a lot that I’m giving it a break. Give space for others to appear

Ahhhh yes that old,problem. I know nothing about how rumbletalk works, but with parachat it’s easy enough to sort that problem via the chat room ACP. You can ban all sorts from there so they can’t get back in. And if there is a feature they don’t have, they’re always just a support ticket away, so,you can ask them to add a feature. You can also ban entire classes of IPs from there too. Loads of stuff you can do, especially to stop the troublemakers from getting back in.
Staff can only do as much as they’ve been allowed to do via the ACP. Martin can do a lot more.
Chat room staff really need to be given far more ‘powers’ for want of a better expression, to keep the nut jobs out. It’s really demoralising when there’s only so much you can do. I know how that feels from experience.
