I agree he should be remembered for his football talent but sad thing is i wasnt born to see it, and a lot of people nowadays didnt so that is a sad thing. But even so i know from football mad men in my family he was a top footballer and i hope he has the peace now than he did before :(
25 November, 2005 at 1:53 pm #158985never played in the world cup too, becky, i myself am not old enough to have witnessed myself how good he was, but just by video clips and footage, you could see he was 20 years ahead of his time, footballers of today have it very easy, its very comfortable for the likes of wayne rooney in todays life style
rip.. best, he is now a legend

I might be ignorant saying this but all men with a football look the same but i am a woman. But still i did hear on the news just what he did football wise and how he would tackle etc. REST IN PEACE!
25 November, 2005 at 2:54 pm #158987George never blamed anyone else for his adiction or bad bahaviour either
‘A live by what he said character’ and a bloody good footballer……….
he’s worthy of ‘saying it as he saw it’
a rare quality

25 November, 2005 at 3:00 pm #158989Nice to see his family out giving the press conference to thx all the hospital staff … must of been very hard for them all. He’s not at peace and proably made his peace with the family and friends that care for him..
total legend on the pitch.. just very sad to see his talent wasted away… as been said before their his demons… but now atlast final peace….
25 November, 2005 at 3:04 pm #158990Yup, Sad news. Probably the best player ever to come out of the British Isles, and at one point maybe the best player in the world.
25 November, 2005 at 5:00 pm #158991I was actually quite sickened by the media hanging around outside the hospital waiting for him to die.
Really turned by stomach, sick vultures.
Then on the news last night…….George Best nearly dead…..ffs !
Irrelevent of what anyone feels about GB, what I saw on TV last night with 40 odd news/media crews loitering outside the hospital will stick in my brain for a bit.

I think she meant his tackle
I can’t remember George Best but by all accounts his career took a nose dive after United won the Cup in 1968 and he was only 22.
Im amazed at some of the things people are saying about how good he was and his career was so short.
Don’t get me wrong…I don’t doubt it’s true…but it just makes it all the more remarkable.
Maybe Rooney’s another just like him ?Im guessing you would have to be in your late 40’s to remember him playing but there are lots of kids upset at this outside Old Trafford tonight on the news.
