Iv’e looked this morning after listening to this mornings news on this, for a link, but once again I can’t find one, it’s probably me, i’m not good at finding links, if someone else does tho, maybe they’d post it.

I have mixed feelings on this one though. It seems our wonderful Home Office (bods sitting around all day thinking of more things for us to do) have come up with this new agenda of people, and single parents have been singled out it seems, of being able to police check potential partners to make sure that they’re not peadophiles, sex offenders etc.,

I think most parents, single or otherwise are careful about prospective new partners, but there will always be the element that isn’t. Don’t we surely have to only look at recent cases of peado’s grooming young girls, and boys, and didn’t these same children have both parents?

My main concern over this is that there could possibly be an element of blame shifting, by the authorities in some form. Should say Ms A meet Mr X and Mr X ineviatably turns out to be a sex offender who harms Ms A’s children, is the question going to be asked of her, well did you police check him first! and if you didn’t well then you only have yourself to blame, cos that’s where this kind of agenda would become very scarey. And frankly, if this is the governments, or the home office’s idea of improving the law, I think it stinks!!!

I’d be interested to see what other pple think …………

I see what you mean. In 1 way its a good idea, but like you said what if the mother didnt check and he turned out to be a sex offender would that fall on the mothers shoulders or what????
