Police and intelligence officers are to be handed the power to monitor people’s messages online in what has been described as an “attack on the privacy” by some people.
Its to be announced in the Queen’s Speech which will allow law-enforcement agencies to check what we are saying in Facebook, Twitter, chat sites, online gaming forums, and the video-chat service Skype.
They are to be given the right to know who speaks to whom “on demand” and in “real time”
Hmmmm so …. not quite sure what I feel about it… its easy to say well if you are doing nothing wrong what does it matter? but I fear for the number of freedoms we give up so easily in this country…. I mean look at places like China….. we might be on a slippery slope here…. any thoughts?

I know what you mean,China is a paranoid country,Evry one is frightend to speak in a free way.Evry one fears there neighbour. That took years and years of of mao,s communisum. And centuries of warlords before.
It would be good to speak to whomever you want about whatever you like.Unfortunatley with the www, thats exactley what it is a world wide web. With terrorists, peadophiles,Murderers, rapists, fraudsters all sorts of criminals, the internet is a gods gift for them. The fact is people should be protected, well i think anyways. After all we really dont know who were talking to on a computer.Thats a fact.No one wants to be spied on.2 April, 2012 at 7:47 am #491433I thought they did anyway…………we’re never going to get the full esp as to what they do are we?…………Certain people only have to type certain words for alarms to be raised

2 April, 2012 at 1:53 pm #491435I was just reading about this and if my interpretation is correct… chat sites by law will need a valid email for everyone using the site…. hmmmmm wonder if Martin is aware of this. that will mean people will have to register to enter chat… at least that’s my interpretation…. Its early days yet we will have to wait for the detail after the queens speech.
Ha ha… it will make it difficult for scrollers! (is that a word?)
:D
