I long for the ways of old
when magic stilled roamed
and the streets were made of gold
where our dreams could take holdI long for the time
when the monsters
didn’t try to deny their crime
honesty today is so hard to findI long to see
the open sky
without these walls that
imprison me
within sober sensibilityI seek the peace
of a forgotten way
to find the release
that appreciates the beauty
of both night and day.1 July, 2008 at 4:53 pm #306585I think back to an untroubled dream
where I walked in a garden
that was so serene
a place where pixies
and goblins conveneI wished to join them
but they said no
for I had grown too old
too fast as they had watched me growTears streamed my face
as I begged them to let me in
‘we’re sorry’ they said
‘but that’s the price of sin’5 July, 2008 at 9:19 am #306586A. A. Milne – one of my favourites! :D
‘Cottleston Pie’
Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie,
A fly can’t bird, but a bird can fly.
Ask me a riddle and I reply
Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie.Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie,
Why does a chicken? I don’t know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply
Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie.Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie,
A fish can’t whistle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply
Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie.— A. A. Milne

the panda is such
a curious beast
under observation,
all it does is eat.
Such dedication
to its gut
makes one think
that its mouth simply
does not shut.Perhaps, or it could be all about the quality of the bamboo shoots.
I’ll need to get back to you on this one.
19 July, 2008 at 2:03 am #306590Once, a long time ago
when the stars seemed young
and the moon did truly glow
I was in loveher beauty so great,
mind sharp as a cleaver
in my heart I had vowed
to never leave herbut the moment passed
and I never did tell her
of my unrequited love,
oh my darling sweet…to this day I can’t
say her name
lest it remind me
of secret shame
this is all but the lark
that comes from having
a broken heart19 July, 2008 at 2:24 am #306591My mother in law,,kinda gets on my wick.
the things she says, the way she prays,
its all that wee bit sick.
as her days pass in a catholic haze.at her age,she is away with the fairys,
as she blesses Our lady and says the Hail Marys.
she ignored her religeon for 40 odd years,
ignored the call of romanian tears.never suffered fools ,she declared !
as i sat there and wept.
i was ever so scared,
as the future it crept..so i faced her !
and told her I was the love of HER sons life.
and in a secret wee bet,he made me his wife. !
was never good enough, and never princess Di,
a clown and a poet, so take it ..oh my !and she disowned him.
and later she realised she needed me too,
we took them on holiday, a family through and through.
along came the baby.put things in motion,
till the night she mentioned,, casually.., abortion. !and i hated her.
so i smiled through the years, and the thinly veiled tears,
as i watched her non smiling eyes glower.
the ill fated looks of not in her good books,
but NOT once did i ever cower.then he died.
so now,i appear,to sound ever so queer,
as i tolerate this woman so bold.
no longer the 20 something fears, but a lassie of cheers.
and a mother in law so pathetically old.and she needs me..
