did it contain any images that where copyrighted? or had a license to use them?

i do my best aaron to use images that arnt subject to copyright, i have many sites which i have signed up to be allowed to use certain images with permission for signatures as long as im not making a profit or asked the artists permission to display their work via email and if stated by the artist their details appear on the signature, some sites do offer graphics where their are no details of where the image came from and yes i have used them in the past and if i have been aware they are subject to copyright i have stopped using them, if there were images that should have been marked with the artists details on that thread then it was because i was unaware that they were, if there was a problem with any of them and i was told about it then i would have removed them without argument, i was just a little supprised that it was removed in total without a word.

You might as well ban all avatars and signatures if that’s the case.

For example, Aaron you have a Simpsons avatar – does Matt Groening know ???? Jeez you could pretty much pick on any image that anyone uses for avatars and signatues.

So you go on a site that lets you use images – what if that image isn’t actually owned by that site – how would you necessarily know ?

it’s not the same in his avatar, no different then your avatar or mine, it dont become and issue til you alter an image and add your name to it.
Most artists do allow their work to be used for sig tags and only require a link back to their site, but GILD artist tend to be more assonite and want you to purchase a license to use their work, in my case im not about to pay for it just dont use it.

Who needs a G.I.L.D. License? Anyone who wishes to use the copyrighted intellectual property of another person or entity must first obtain a license, or permission, to use the property for any reason whatsoever. It belongs to it’s Creator (in this case – Artists), who has complete reign over his or her artworks. You need a license if you intend to use the image(s) in any way (including displaying the image on your website or tagging with them).

This doesn’t say anything about altering the image Yunnie, only that you can’t use any image that doesn’t belong to you without the consent of the artist.

Maybe we need further clarification ?

Oh and LOL @ Jooly – gotta agree with ya gal ! and pass the drink ! :D

by making a tag with the image you alter it,if a different colour is used or the shadow has been dropped then its altered and by putting someones name on it is altering it aswell?
