My PC used to play videos with no problems at all.
Youtube, real player, windows media player all fine.
But now, they wont play without breaking up every 3 or 4 seconds.
Does anyone know why this is? :?The prize is a Hermy Huggle if anyone tells me the solution……..

:lol:Blimey m8………
‘Video’ picture sites use Active X to download a temporary applet into your temp folder so you can ‘see’ the video, very similair to Java…..no Java no JC….same principle’ish.
JC do not download a temporary ‘Java’ applet so you have to download Java from Sun
Some common apps that use Active X are: Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Apple QuickTime Player, Microsoft Windows Media Player, Real Networks RealPlayer, and Sun Java Virtual Machine to name a few (tvm wiki)
Some sites need ‘Direct X’ and ‘Active X’, Direct X is mainly for gamers but its something you can download you can get it here
You may get less requests when browsing once installed to use Active X although some sites apparently need both   and NEVER download Active X controls from an untrusted site………..you never know [-X
Hope that helped m8
To see if you need it before downloading you can carry out an easy test at http://www.pcpitstop.com31 May, 2007 at 4:27 pm #271841Sorted it, thanks druid m8! :D

Max ffs get a grip. Your pc was bought from a “mate” for 50 quid right? No wonder the useless heap of junk doesn,t work properly. Coupled with the fact it,s windows 2000 ffs. Do what PB would suggest. Burn the poxy thing, claim on the insurance and get a new one, preferably windows XP. From a SHOP!
Twassack.  -
