I used to have a pet lamb called Gertrude when I was a kid but when it got big it escaped from its field and into my junior school garden and the Headmaster made me chase it back cause he was scared of it. My mum then sold it and bought me a new coat with the money.

I had two dogs one was a mongrel called Holly the other was a Shih Tzu called Bumble.
I had two guinea pigs one called Misty and the other Lionel.

Due to my local vets being greedy, robbing gits I dont have pets anymore, so I look after friends dogs when they go on holiday and have got two hyper Brichon Frisse arriving tomorrow afternoon for a few days.

give us your address Rose, I’ll be round with the gang first thing!

seriously though, its very sensible to not have animals if you cant afford the vet bills, I would hate to add what Ive paid over the years and thats including insurance.

So many people are a bit ignorant and I hate to think of the amount of pets left suffering cos their owners can afford the vets.

I wish I was more sensible!

What did it for me Sharon was when my Shih Tzu needed an op and they said it would be £120 and ended up over £700! He was very old and they said he would be fine. I picked him up from vets and he was half dead, wouldnt eat for a week, his fur fell out and he only lived for another 6 months. My heart was broken seeing him like that, so I couldnt go through that again.

I have 2 cats – twins really, from the same litter. 3 years old now.

I also have 3 other cats who visit me daily, i’d like to think they like my company, but im sure they just like the free food.

Oh, and I also have Fraggle, my little fox who visits me when he feels like it. He always makes me feel sad though cos he scratches a lot, the poor thing. Ive got some pics somewhere, if i can find upload them. He likes to sleep on my shed – in broad daylight! hes not shy you see :)

I’d love a dog, ive always wanted a dalmation..Ive even thought of the name.. Dotty..but i think my cats would object :?

Like Rosepetal, I couldn’t go through it again so I wouldn’t get another dog. I had a black and white lab/spaniel for 16 years and up until the age of 15 she was still fit and healthy, running around the park and going for walks. Towards the end though, she was really struggling and had very little if any quality of life. Actually – hellish as this will sound – she was so bad that I actually hoped she would die in her sleep so I wouldn’t have to take her to the vets.

Wasn’t to be so had to take her, she was struggling to stand let alone walk. Even when she lay down she’d whine. The kindest thing would have been to take her sooner than I did but I didn’t even want to entertain the idea.
