Just a random tale about pets. My elderly 86 year old neighbour lost her 14 year old cat ‘Billy’ late winter the year before last and my neighbour was absolutely heartbroken. Literally though a week or so later, a young small female cat appeared from nowhere in her yard and over the course of a few weeks started going there more and more just hanging out (getting spoiled) and eventually started staying and sleeping in the little cat house my neighbour had not got round to throwing out, to shelter from rain etc.
One day my neighbour heard this quite loud “mewing” and went out to investigate and this cat had carried four tiny kittens, eyes not even open, a considerable distance from where it lived (we didn’t know where it lived then) and including over a four feet wall, into this little cat house. Anyway after some inquiries, we found out who owned the cat and after a lot of fuss took the kittens and the cat back to the original owner.
Later on in the new year my neighbour was sat watching TV minding her own buisness and this cat sauntered in carrying yet another young kitten and over the course of a few weeks kept reappearing randomly with kittens, which we kept returning to the owner. We live in a close nit community and it caused quite a bit of a fuss and hilarity, that the cat preferred my neighbour, to its own owners and its own house. Plus it is quite unusual apparently to do this kittens so young and vulnerable.
The cat during this time, got even more devious and would sneak in and hide the kittens upstairs under a bed in the spare room and during the night would sneak downstairs and drag a whole packet of unopened cat treats upstairs and in the morning my neighbour would find strips of plastic on the floor, lol. Anyway we eventually found where she was hiding the kittens because they would go really quiet and there was loads of boxes etc under this bed and so hard to find.
My neighbour was quite rightly in a flap that this would happen more frequently and we managed to convince her, to approach the owners. That they should get this small female moggy spayed and that my neighbour would pay because she got a reduced rate. During this conversation with the cat owner they very kindly suggested my neighbour keep the cat and asked could they visit now and again (the teenage kids) which my neighbour of course accepted as she had fell in love with this little Tasmanian devil.
Pets they break our hearts, but they also bring so much joy to our lives and I thought it was really cute that this random moggy randomly sought out my neighour after she had lost her own beloved pet and after such a saga has now become such a beloved pet to her.

I bought my AB from my ex’s sister and my first choice who I did not commit to went to someone else, so I “chose” my second/third choice. Yet as it happens she has never been dog or people aggressive, was house trained in a week and looks at cats and yappy small dogs and goes “ye whatever I can’t be ersed”. A really laid back dog. My first choice turned out to be quite difficult to handle (although that could have been the owner). I do think Molly chose me and the mysteriousness of animals made it happen.

Didn’t know horses rolled around in the mud; only ever heard of pigs and dogs doing so.
