First of all… Welcome to the boards Matty. Being a newbie, you may find some of our regular posters (ie pats and fast)’s advice a little bewildering to say the least. Take no notice of them. The person you should seek in your hour of need is another regular, going by the user name of “Soulie”.
He sounds sound … (lol… pardon whatever it is I have just done to the english language ) and just the right person to advise you … Same age, same set of circumstances ….. The only difference is, he has been here a lot longer than you
Excuse me mizz Lambrini Girl!!!!!…. mine and Pats advice has been known to bring many a person back from the brink of dispair. Straight talking and honesty has been scientifically proved to have the best effects….
If that don’t work we just give them a helpful push over the edge…..

I know Matt and Lamby get it but I don’t. :?
There are 3 ways to read that story.
1) Grimaldy understands that he holds his own happiness in his hands
2) Grimaldy was asking for help and was told to p-off because he should know better
3) We masquerade as Grimaldy and we can’t always live up to that.I think it’s 3) you meant. (excuse me for being an idiot!)
It’s 1 and 3 in my opinion … We are all masters of our own destinies, but, occasionally, we end up playing a role, and sometimes the role and the reality bounderies get confused.
Or u could just jump…. :D
2 July, 2006 at 11:33 pm #229128:-s The way I see it, Matty, is that what your mates have done is analogous to going travelling. Now, if that had happened, you wouldn’t necessarily say, what a cunt, that cunt’s gone to Bali, that must mean we’re not chums anymore! For a start, it would be very foul mouthed but it would also be a very self-absorbed position to take. You’d have to be some sort of wanker. Like Fester. Just for example.
Similarly, if when your mate got to Bali, he liked it so much he decided to stay much longer than he’d originally planned, it would very likely not be because he had decided to stop being your pal. He would just be in a different place.
Life very rarely has the decency to let groups of people stay together on a life-long basis. It doesn’t mean they stop being your mates. They’re just somewhere else.

matty…….wen a bloke gets married obviously his wife comes first ………..
Not neccesarily FATS – once he is married he probably doesn’t give a ferk who comes first – long as he comes !!!!
3 July, 2006 at 12:24 pm #229131i think its a case of trying to find a happy medium matty, i dont believe that husband or wife automatically should come first just because they are said partner. Sometimes our friends need us and i would accept that from my husband if he was putting his friend first…..obviously if it was a constant thing and for trivial reasons i would be very pi ssed off !! Just because you marry it doesnt mean that your life before marriage is over ! you are after all the same person that your partner fell for ! and i dont know bout you lot but im not ready for me pipe and slippers quite yet ! friendships like marriage have to have a bit of work put in from both partiers for it to continue….hope this helps hun
3 July, 2006 at 12:53 pm #229132Matty when you meet Mrs Right, im sure you wont see it as a toil to stay in with her rather than your mates. It will just happen and you will prefare her company, although it is good to still see your mates sometimes as well but maybe not as often. We need mates around us sometimes. If someone needed my hubby for advice or something I cant say it would bother me, one bit, so long as it didnt consist in him going out all night every night. You still have to have other friends , or you would crack up.
