I’d contact victim support. They have all the laws and work for the victim.im sure its not just a Scottish thing. victim support will put you in contact with a free lawyer etc.
hope this helps, even a wee bit. and Good Luck.

Thank you. I’m not sure what to do. Obviously the Sutcliffe claim has no relevance now, its just the pain-staking time it takes to find other people with similar injuries. I know after all the advice you have given it seems like a stupid question, but where do we go from here?
I think Shaz already told you.
23 January, 2008 at 7:27 pm #303864Sharongooner could we have the details of that lawyer please.
23 January, 2008 at 7:40 pm #303865Would any benefit you recieved while off work be affected if you received compension ?
Someone once told me they fought for three years to get comp for a back injury while at work then when they got the payment because it included the past three years he was off work he had to pay back all benefit he recieved for that period. Need to check with a lawyer. good luck !23 January, 2008 at 7:41 pm #303866It is David Kerry
http://www.attwaterliell.co.uk/partners/david_kerry.php replace “fish” with att water no space. (I think the link will still work?)
^^ this gives you some information on him. As I said he is more into the medi/clinical negligence cases, but has years of experience in personal injury claims.
His email is david.kerry@att waterliell.co.uk (no space)
His telephone number is 01279638888.
As I said if you google him you can see a lot of the cases he has worked on. He never looses (well Ive never known him to) and he always gets a costs order against the other party too as he has great contacts in all fields including accountancy.
The reason I said ditch the petition is it was based on the myth that Sutcliffe had received compensation. I dont think it would be fair on those that have signed it to present it in its current form.
A petition for fairer compensation for all victims of crime may be the way to go.
Do you know you can set up on line petitons on the governments website?
All you need to do once you have set it up is post the link to as many people as possible. no downloading necessary.
If you cant contact Mr Kerry, call any of the no win no fee companies (plenty out there) who will refer you to a qualified solicitor in your locality to take on your case.
You dont have to look for precedents. Your main concern at the moment is timescale.
Get the advice you need now. And put my fee in the post
Good luck

23 January, 2008 at 9:06 pm #303868Another thing I found out and forgot to mention was that the Press Complaints Comission have not received one single complaint against any publications about the Sutcliffe compo story so there is no reason for any of them to retract their claims. Unfair, but thats that.
23 January, 2008 at 9:49 pm #303869can you tell me where you are getting all this information
23 January, 2008 at 9:54 pm #303870through where I work and google.
23 January, 2008 at 10:03 pm #303871sorry for being nosy but where do you work and what exactly did you google?
