Butterfly I don,t know who you are, and to be honest now, I don,t particularly care.I,ve been reading this thread with great interest since it was started. People here, especially PB, have gone out of their way to help you and offer you advice. In return you have been extreemly rude and abusive. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
23 January, 2008 at 11:44 am #303843I’m not being rude at all, i dont like it when people accuse us of not actually needing help. have you not read all the way through from post ONE. Everytime someone signed i said thank you very much. Why is every one turning against us. PB told me to look elsewhere for other people who have received compensation and we are. Please for god’s sake get off our back, we have enough on our plate without all this. Play nice children, i don’t need this hassle on top of everything else. put yourself in our shoes, this isnt something lighthearted to us, this could make a difference to us. everything we have we have had to fight for, all we are asking for is a break, a bit of good luck for once. Come on give us a break, we are both tired of having to fight everyone for evrything. :(

As a new reader to this particular thread, I have to say butterflyangel that you should be ashamed with some of these posts you have made latterly.
You’ve done yourselves no favours whatsoever.

With even greater respect ‘butterflyangel’ your responses to offers of help or assistance have been both rude and abusive and quite out of keeping with your apparent aim of trying to improve on Nick Horobin’s (rejected) offer of compensation.
You state that you “dont like it when people accuse us of not actually needing help” …. nobody has made any such accusation at all … this is a complete fabrication on your part.
You have been told quite clearly and succinctly that the foundation for your ”campaign” is fatally flawed and yet you spend all your time in denial and refuse to acknowledge this fact.
Unless and until you re-think your strategy on this particular point, your ”campaign” is doomed to failure.
23 January, 2008 at 1:29 pm #303847heres how to raise 41k without dong a thing pet. wear a hijab. and apply for a job as a hairdresser. if they turn you down, sue them for 41k and walk away laughing up your sleeve.
i wish you well with your campaign but i have to agree you do yourself no favours by getting upset. im sure most of us feel for your plight, and as a retired nurse i certainly do. i was retired after being attacked by a patient i have a decent pension and i work part time. it hasnt stopped me working nor has it embittered my personal view of others, as i say i wish you well your fiance’ and your family should be well compensated, but as has been said peter sutcliffe has recieved no money for his injures. mabey if you compare the offer to an mp’s pay you would gain more support. heaven knows they get paid a fortune for f**k all.23 January, 2008 at 2:00 pm #303848@waspish wrote:

They don’t do that much, stop bigging them up!
23 January, 2008 at 2:25 pm #303849We are not going on one story, and are no longer using Peter Sutcliffe as a basis for our claim, and haven’t done since the press release came out. The website is due to be updated today. Why can you not see the point of what we are trying to do. We are just trying to get our life sorted after having so much bad luck in the past. Just for the record our local paper and the BBC are running the story about it not being true, and yet we are still getting lots of signatures. We have already found several claims of compensation that we may be able to use. We are not sitting on our laurels with this, we are working damn hard to try and get all of this together by the 18th february.

Goodness me, these people did see the point behind your campaign!!! Why the hell did you not say this before the shit started hitting the fan? You are terribly confusing and probably confused.

Well thank God for that – sense at last.
OK people let’s all now pitch in and see what we can offer by way of advice. I’ll start off.
Nick has already made a claim on the CICA (Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority) and they have made him an offer according to their ”tarriff” – which is not terribly generous….. something in the order of £40,000 if memory serves.
This is broken down into various heads of claim.
However, Nicks injuries were not just caused by a criminal act, but were caused whilst he was a) an employee of the NHS and b) driving an ambulance – insured by the NHS.
Looking at the photographs of the crashed ambulance afterwards, it is a good chance that some of his injuries were caused by the actual crash – as opposed to being SOLELY caused by the lump of concrete hitting the ambulance (or him).
This means that you should have a possible claim against the insurers of the ambulance for injuries suffered as a result of the accident. (The NHS is either insured with a commercial insurer OR insures itself)
My personal opinion is that you will achieve a far higher level of compensation from an insurer than you will from the CICA.
Then there is another head of claim – that of compensation for an ”industrial accident / injury” …. this against your (ex) employer.
The Statute of Limitations for all the above is 6 years so you have better get a wiggle on and get a claim in quick.
Above all else, you absolutely MUST get yourself represented by a first class lawyer that specialises in compensation claims. most of them will now represent you on a ”no win no fee” basis. this means that if you lose your claim, you pay nothing at all – if you win your claim, they are entitled to receive a higher fee rate (often 200% ) from your compensation payment.
