Hi people thank you for all your help. please return the petition forms to the address that is on the petition form and have them returned by the 16th February, thank you ever so much
16 January, 2008 at 10:10 am #303803we are very grateful for all of your help and support, however we need more signatures because we are taking all of the petitions to the PM Gordon Brown on the 18 February, not the 25 February as was previously stated by us. once again thank you
21 January, 2008 at 4:34 pm #303804Huge sympathies to your fiance and I hope he gets justice, but you should both be aware that the Sutcliffe compensation story is a media invention.

…….it all started on Boxing Day when we read that the Yorkshire Ripper had been awarded £196,000 after being attacked in prison. Where is the justice in that, when Nick hasn’t even been awarded a penny……
So the Peter Sutcliffe story is a total invention and he hasn’t been awarded a penny in compensation – much less £196,000 eh?
If you hadn’t read the story on Boxing Day …. would you have petitioned Gordon Brown claiming ”unfairness”???
Isn’t a CICB award enough or do you want even more???
21 January, 2008 at 6:47 pm #303806Yes we would still have gone to Gordon Bown despite the article about the Ripper, do i take it from your response that you condone what he did to all those women. While my fiance was doing his duty as an ambulance man and has suffered severe scarring, problems with his memory, concentration and balance. He has also lost the job hat was his life. If you think that is OK then that is entirely your opinion, but i have to say that you are in a minority in that vein of thinking.
21 January, 2008 at 6:52 pm #303807Plus a CICB reward is not enough when we need to pay off the mortgage and my fiance wants to try and retrain, and we also have a young son to take care of. If this had happened to you, would you just sit on your laurels and do nothing. We are fighters not people who just sit there like little yes men and say yes that’s ok we’ll take this money. can you reveal who told you this story because we have had it checked by several sources.
21 January, 2008 at 7:05 pm #303808Day in day out I see rip off merchants taking the pi$$ out of people issuing claims for the sake of it and the age old “principle”. Now and then we see genuine cases like this and it is refreshing to see the right people getting what is due to them.
After seeing it from all sides for nearly 18 years I would never ever put myself through the system unless it was worth it. Its depressing, it takes over your life completely, yet there are a lot of people out there who vexatiously take advantage of the new claim culture.
Good luck with your case.
21 January, 2008 at 10:58 pm #303809If the story is false, then why have their been over half a dozen tabloids quoting that he HAS received the amount without using the safety net of allegedly. They are putting their reputation on the line. I have checked this out thoroughly, and there is also a couple of MP’s who have quoted this story and they haven’t said allegedly either. So I think you ought to check your sources better. Are you aware that this payout was made in 2005 and it has taken 3 years to come out, and when the payout was made there was a lot of press surrounding it.
21 January, 2008 at 11:31 pm #303810I would not take too much notice of PB’s post there, He is always the Devil’s Advocate round here (I think there is a missed opportunity hidden in his depths somewhere).

this is Peter’s lawyer on his criminal case. Its also worth noting that Peter has changed his surname to Coonan (Im sure if you have researched you will obviously know this).
So researching means checking all possible names.
Ive not found anything that convinces me other than press reports, but Im not out yet.
Strong evidence of these cases and the final payouts are always difficult to find amongst the junk, due to the heavy press content that they generate.
That leach of a lawyer though are more of a bain on our society than any sponger I tell you.
6 figure (at least) salary, and if they are savvy enough 100% will come out of the public purse. And they are 10 a penny.

The statement I linked to is from the website of West London Mental Health Trust, which runs Broadmoor Hospital. It is categoric in what it says – no payment was sought and none was made. It appears to have been put out as a press release today, but I wouldn’t imagine it will get much coverage.
I have every sympathy with your fiance’s case and I think £40k is an inadequate payout given what has happened. But I don’t think you will get anywhere if you base your case on a compensation payout that never actually happened.
I’m afraid the reality is that the tabloids lie a lot and lies are repeated as fact if no-one challenges them. Suspect in this case the original story was based on false information and was never challenged until now. At very least, I’d check out the story with people other than the tabloids.
